I have struggled with anxiety for so long it has just become a part of who I am but I don't want it to be!!! I constantly feel the need to please others which we all know is a futile effort. It annoys my husband immensely and causes us to fight. I started medication and counseling. Breathing techniques are helpful but I have so many negative behaviors I need to unlearn. Extreme negative self talk, destructive behaviors to feel something lead me to acting out in dangerous ways. Sexually and even shoplifting. I am beyond embarrassed by this and am struggling to be honest with my husband because I would obviously rather forget this ever happened. Can anyone relate? Have any tips that have worked for them

hello welcome to this kind amazing community your not alone 😁🙏
Welcome to the forum 🙂
I think breathing exercises are an excellent first start for anyone, they can grow into such a useful coping technique.
I can relate to only a little bit of this but more important is the fact that you are able to point out and confront your flaws. We all have them and we're all better off when we can be honest with ourselves about them.
I can totally relate. I've used my music which I love and dancing. Even a Spotify thing on my TV for meditation., some days work is a good distraction. And other days it's a facade. People that have not really gone through it may not understand. So we put on a facade which gets exhausting at some point. I'm here for you if you want to talk here or do messenger privately here. And they're awesome people here as well.
Dennis Simsek the anxiety guy on YouTube is my favorite teacher. YouTube has saved my life...so much info on trauma, abuse, mental health. Psilocybin 🍄 and Paul Stamets is my recent obsession in my mental health journey. I'm doing a microdosing study at microdise.me on the Quantified Citizen app you can download in the play store. It has an AWESOME mood tracker application that has been extremely beneficial for me to understand my cycles and recognize my symptom profile better so I can TREAT myself in a beneficial manner.
I know how it feels to believe that our diagnoses have become One with our personalities and selves. That's the lie that has to be broken. You are NOT anxiety or depression. It's not possible. Decoupling those "feelings" is your challenge. Cuz they're just "feelings" not permanent defining characteristics of whom you are at your core. It's challenging...I know the arguments you've been having with your spouse, I've had em all for decades on a looping track with my husband. I'm finally breaking those destructive cycles... it's gonna take a second for him to catch up. He still sees me as a basket case... with good reason. Actions always talk louder than words...lead by example. That's what I'm trying to accomplish.
Here's our Dane we lost in '18😭we called her Big girl Big girl... TWICE cuz she was a BIG GURRRL!! She ate as much as our 3 pitbulls combined. Doubled our food cost with ONE DOG 🐕🤦
Awe!! ❤️ I lost one in 2018 as well. Still guts me everyday. BGBG was a beautiful dog, can only imagine how much she is missed. Love that pic btw.
Such a gentle beautiful soul...but she'd eat ANYTHING within snout's reach...and she could reach amazing nooks and crannies
Hence Scouter snouter🤣
Haha yes and very tall I imagine. Had to hide everything from her I bet. What a hoot!
Hello Welcome my name is Desiree and I have had anxiety and PTSD for years it’s definitely tough and you are not alone just try new techniques that might help one thing that helps me is thinking about something calm that i like while I am taking my breaths I imagine that I am at this calm place and it helps me a lot there are different types of sounds too like rain, forest, beach it’s all about something that you like and think might help I know it’s hard but you got this and if you ever need a friend or just someone to talk to you can message me
We miss her every day 😭❤️
