has anyone on here tried to use CBD to help with a benzodiazepine tolerance and eventually eliminating the need for benzodiazepines altogether? If so please tell me all about it please ❤️

I haven't tried CBD, but gabapentin helped me get off lorazepam.

Just found this via quick google. It seems to talk more about CBD helping you taper down than a total solution for anxiety at the end. I know plenty of people that use CBD in various forms for pain and other issues .... so it could work for you once you get off of benzos. I don't think you'll know until you try.

I am not sure about cbd, but my psychiatric nurse had me try propranolol because I was concerned about the lorazepam. It has been really effective for me and is very safe.

I was using lorazepam to help me fall asleep at the height of my anxiety. I didn't use it during the day, but I did have a little bit of a hangover. I switched to using CBD during the day, and trazodone at night to help me sleep. This seemed to work, and now I only have to take the CBD occasionally. CBD is not as strong as benzos, but combined with meditation, mindfulness, exercise, etc. it helps with my anxiety.

I tried CBD and found it effective, I also found a CBD tincture with valerian and other herbs in it for sleep which helped. Unfortunately I found out CBD isn't good for glaucoma which I have so I quit. One of the keys to getting off benzos is to also do a very slow, long taper.

I vape CBD, damiana herb, and kratom (all in very tiny amounts) instead of benzos. For me, it is just as effective. I vape it, rather than swallowing it. For me, it is as effective as clonazepam but doesn't cause depression. My psychiatrist recommends I do this because it works so well for me. It even makes the chest pains go away. (That being said - talk to your doctor first as many herbal preparations can interact with meds).

I started vaping CBD after stopping long term Klonopin use. It was recommended by my doctor as an alternative therapy. I took a higher dose immediately upon stopping the Klonopin which has now been weened down to an as needed basis. It helps me sleep without the groggy morning feeling of sleep medications. *side note: My vet prescribed CBD for one of my dogs who has separation anxiety and it has worked wonders for her too.

my experience with lorazepam’ is quite extensive. I currently take 1 mg a day. In the past I’ve simply done a slow taper off. Another time I switched to Valium which is a longer acting benzo and easier to get off of. Finding the core of your anxiety and challenging the beliefs is really key. So counseling with someone you feel good about.

Herbs also help. Something called Pharma Gaba works with same receptors and can pass through blood brain barrier. St. John’s wort and Lysine to raise dopamine and serotonin. I’d see a naturopath too. They’ll have good alternatives.

Acupuncture can also help release anxiety. A good friend to share and listen is also crucial. Hope that helps. Self care acts like massage and tapping for self love help tremendously. ❤️❤️
