Serious side effects coming off lorazepam

You have to taper gradually. Your doctor should give you some guidance on this.
I agree with the need to taper. There is actually a protocol to do this. Your doctor should be able to provide you with the data.
I am sorry you are suffering. I got hold of some through a friend and felt wonderful (I was being messed about for years with primary hyperparathyroidsim which no only causes osteoporosis but bad nausea and anxiety. So I decided to buy some as the gp's will not prescribe them in the UK. I can honestly say, they are one of the worst and hardest drugs to come off. My GP wouldnt help despite all their mistakes, so I joined beating benzos on facebook. I soon learned of the tapering method using the Ashton manual and gradually after a few months using diazepam which I had to source myself, I gradually got off them. It was particularly difficult for me because valium/diazepam do not agree with me because of the histimines. I was only taking 1mg of loraz a day so it must be awful for you. Anyway, I did persevere and I also had to pay heaps of money for a private parathyroid operation. I still get very anxious at times and usually it is dental hospital appointments that make me jittery so I pop a small amount of bromazepam occasionally. The latter are good, not available in the UK but much easier to come off. I was on them for 6 years when i lived in Australia after my husband died suddenly leaving me with a three year old. The reason diazepam is used is because it has a long half life whereas Lorazepam does not. Check out the schedule contain here benzo.org.uk/manual/bzcha02...
I have been on 1.5 m g of klonopin 29 years. They say .25 mg taper for 2 weeks. I got down to 1 mg and then life hit me with a nightmare and back up to 1.5 mg . .05 mg every 8 hours. Deep breathing exercises and cardio exercise and cold water therapy helps me. All free on you tube.
I have been slowly tapering off of 2mg per day since January. At this time I am on 1 1/4 per day. The key is to do it slowly and to be under a doctor's care. Some have no withdrawal symptoms, some have withdrawal symptoms at certain levels. I found a website called Benzofree.com that helped me understand my withdrawal symptoms plus you can download The Ahstom Manual from the site. Good luck to you and God Bless...
