Best antidepressant for sleep? CBD oil?

Hi I’ve taken several SSRI and SNRIs for anxiety and depression and one of the main side effects I experience is reduced or fragmented REM sleep so that I always wake up tired, not feeling rested. It’s really starting to wear on me!!! I was thinking of adding CBD oil at night to maybe help with sleep. Anyone had any luck with this? I’ve heard that the antidepressant mirtazapine can help also but one of the common side effects is weight gain and I already struggle with weight so that is not an option. I also tried Trazadone but that made me way too groggy so I stopped taking it.

My doc suggested next trying either Mirtazapine, Trintellix, Viibryd, or Lamictal.

Not sure any of these besides Mirtazapine could help sleep and honestly he doesn’t know either. I’m super sensitive to these medications and just have not had good experience being on them (or off them for that matter).

Can someone share some insight please!?

Thank you

Jaco

I started taking CBD 25 mg at night plus melatonin and its been a couple weeks, I think my sleep is better. Really added the cbd for knee pain, that seems better too

I was on viibrid and I'm on lamictal and I wouldn't count on them for sleep based on my experience.

I also had the same reaction to trazadone.

They can't find anything to help me sleep. I've given up on it and just take what I can gets far as hours of sleep.

I'm not sure on the cbd oil for myself. I have friends that use it and it works great.

I take a low dose of mirtizapine which really helps with sleep. It is classed as an antidepressant.

Have you had any side effects with the lose dose ? Specifically - weight gain ?

Yes I do have some weight gain, it's either mirtizapine or pregabalim causing it, but not excessively.

Considering individual differences is the key. We keep striving to find the correct unlock for our body to accept and help us so we can gain control of our selves.

Went thru 4 yrs. of trying everything, including sleep studies. I sleep in segments, wake up and go thru all the panic, then eventually fall asleep again after taking Valium. 1/2 of lowest dose.

I'm exhausted. Psych and Therapist have both said they don't know what to do with me anymore.

We know Valium is Not recommended for Senior Adults. It's better than nothing. And it helps a little bit. Don't like brain fog. Valium keeps that down low for me.
