I have developed this intense fear of taking prescribed antipsychotic medications like seroquel. I was told caplypta has less side effect of weight gain but is also associated with developing tardive dyskinesia?
it’s a relatively new med on market since 2020.
is anyone currently taking it?
I am in desperate need to decrease anxiety and get 7-8 hours of sleep at night which I’m not since I have high anxiety paired with borderline disorder and bipolar 2.
I can’t find another psychiatrist in the mean time so I’m stuck for now with this nurse practitioner. What to do? I’m seriously considering taking caplypta. Any advice?

Hi hope you have found some medication to get your bipolar under control. I have Schizoaffective disorder and I have syonell or Depakote to control my bipolar which is manic not depressive. I find it works great although I do have to take kemadrim to stop the shakes I get. I am also on abilify maintena to control my psychosis. Although I would rather not be on meds I have not got the choice as I would become very ill again and I have to take the medication as part of my care plan. I do not get weight gain with the tablets although I did put on a lot of weight when I was on letrozole to stop my cancer coming back, which I have since lost. I find my life is stable on the mood stabilizers and take 2x 400mg a day. Hope you are ok take care.
oh you poor thing .. sucks you have tremors. My therapist recommended I either take depakote or lithium or some other mood stabilizer other than seroquel. I’m glad the pills help u. Thanks for giving me hope. I’m sorry you have gone thru so much.
If it were my I'd choose Depakote but we are aĺ different as for me I wish I'd never got off seroquel and back on Zyprexa which causes major weight problems,,but after 18 years I can't imagine life without it
oh thank you for responding to this post. I was never recommended depakote. I’m tapering off seroquel and and have been put on latuda and trileptal. I think trileptal helps in stabilizing my moods but that’s all. Hopefully lexapro will help me in getting out of my depression and have motivation to do things. So zyprexa changed your life? How is weight loss going?
Personally, sorry I know you didn't ask me lol but, I gained an initial 40 lbs from zyprexa but, I need this med so it's all worth it. I have to be careful of what I eat is all. Have you learned of latuda or lamictal? I also take lamictal and I know it helps me.
Good for you if it helps. I was recommended zyprexa but got off quickly cause of weight gain and my new psychiatrist put me on meds that helped stabilize my mood. I’m on trileptal and it helps. Latuda with seroquel not sure if it’s working yet and she will put me on lexapro for depression. I was on limictal years ago not sure if it worked for me
I'm on zyprexa also and, I know it's the med for me but, gosh do I get tired 24-7 from it! Tired and sleepy all the time. But, I tell myself it's worth it.
I'm on Zyprexa I been on it for 18 years my dose has been lowered from 30mg to 20 several years ago.ive lost 60 pounds and sleeping is hard...I was oversedated on multiple medications for 10 years I just wish ii could sleep
congrats on your weight loss. I’m struggling with sleep due to sleep apnea so I can relate. Did you see a sleep specialist? Maybe it’s sleep apnea but the machine doesn’t help me sleep
