Alcohol is a depressant. But I often reacted differently a lot of the time. I could be more anxious at times. Before the crash.
It's a depressant but, if I understand correctly, metabolizes rapidly into sugar. This can cause a spike in blood sugar followed by a crash. I am mildly hypoglycemic and if I don't make sure I am getting plenty of protien alcohol can cause spikes and dips in my blood sugar. Couple that with underlying anxiety and I could definitely see restlessness.
causes anxiety when the bottles nearly empty
It always made my anxiety worse if I drank too much. Someone has already said the alcohol turns to sugar and magnifies/copies the symptoms of anxiety that I was already struggling to cope with. I then learned not to respect those symptoms or let them dictate my actions so I carried on drinking, in moderation of course and gave two fingers to my anxiety!✌🏼🤣🍻
Alcohol does not always make you feel better, despite what you see movies and on television. It is not really a relaxant, but does disinhibit people sometimes leading to inappropriate words or behaviors. I think that a lot of the effect of alcohol depends on who you are with and the general tone of the group around you. If you are drinking by yourself, you may not feel much better. If you are at a big party and everyone's having a really great time, you probably will feel better if you drink. Don't forget, however, that alcohol use has its price, and once it is out of your system you may feel worse than before you started drinking.
at first it use to mask my symptoms but then I found myself getting paranoid and very anxious about being out of control.
