In December my house flooded, we moved to a hotel for a month, caught COVID/bad dose of flu, had daily stress trying to find alternative accom, endless frustration with estate agents and insurance. Now in an apartment, transfering items from the house and been told it will be 6 months till return. I've been light headed off balance and short of breath ever since. Saw the doc who said I had ear wax close to ear drum hence imbalance. Otex drops used, still unsteady sob no better and really light headed. Just wondering if it's PTSD, has anyone had this? Need some reassurance that I'm not alone in this. I'm 66 and otherwise in decent health, prone to light headed Ness as not on hrt and have hypothyroid, taking levothyroxine. Any virtual hugs appreciated.!

PTSD and anxiety after flood
hi well its a right ordeal and trauma you have been through and still waiting for your house to be sorted, i do think you have PTSD i had rat infestation in my kitchen ceiling and under fl the floor boards it took a year to find the broken drain my nebours concertavory was built over a old toilet drain pipe i had rats dying and loads of flies arful smells i left and lived with my mum even adter the drain was cut and capped off and no more rats burrowed to mine, i made changes to the house but it never felt like home i had niggtmares fir ages, im on hrt i get bit light headed frim hormones where do you live, im hull and its alwats risk of flood im reluctant to buy a house mines sold now its a big weight off 🤗
Thank you , I'm in Leeds, glad you're sorted.
leeds isnt far flooding is becoming regular and more with climate change more rain flash floods etc if you can afford to rent a place id sell your house or you be moving back living in fear of it happening again, 🤷
It was a burst pipe. First time in 30 years! Will change to combi boiler as advised by gas repair guy. Would like a bungalow ideally all pipes downstairs, feel so sorry for folks on a flood plain and no insurance.
oh thats good sorry i assumed the rain, my town i read is predicted to be under sea level in ten years our seasides cliffs are disappearing fast round here, good idea about bungalow it may all work out as a blessing in disguise if you end up choosing a bungalow and easier on the legs no stairs and less heating costs hope you get the right home for you.
After everything youre going through its only reasonable to be anxious. Not that things wont work out, i just mean alot of us stress out over what ifs but youre going through something that would be stressful to anyone and are managing it. Try and be proud of yourself and be understanding of yourself, it would be stressful to anyone. The lightheadedness is probably stress and anxiety/ptsd or it might be leftover from the flu or both. Hopefully once the house situation is stable things will improve 🤗
Sending a hug. Having flu would have left you very low and it takes some time to build yourself up. Good luck x
