recently I’ve been struggling with living in the moment. I keep thinking about all the “what ifs” especially what if I get sick from being in public and doing things. Being sick terrifies me, especially throwing up and having to be alone. But I also don’t want to live in fear and isolate myself while life passes by. Feeling very silly and alone because my family and boyfriend don’t quite understand what it feels like.

focusing on the moment
Hi Daisy425, you are very right as to how anxiety and fear can keep us from
living and just allows us to exist. The "what ifs" have kept many of us prisoner
as well as myself at one time. That is, until I refused to give up my rights and my
control over my life.
I realized that worrying about my health does nothing but lower my immune system.
Taking care of ourselves is our responsibility, the rest is up to chance as to if we get
sick or not. Do not worry Daisy...Live and Breathe in Life in the moment xx
Hello Daisy, good awareness on your part for knowing what is going on for you. What you are dealing with is anticipatory anxiety and is common with an anxiety condition. i sometimes get caught up in health anxiety and have read that it can also be related to OCD of which I have some. Learning and practicing simple mindfulness meditation can help with being able to just observe your thoughts without attachment and also bring yourself back to the present. I've also found these to be helpful for health anxiety and OCD: the youtube of Paige Pradko, she is a therapist that healed herself of it and now helps others to heal, she also has online courses available if you are interested. Another one to check out is Matthew Codde at restoredminds.com he is also a therapist that had OCD and health anxiety and healed himself and now helps others. Another good resource is the DARE Anxiety book and youtube videos for learning what anxiety really is and how to constructively deal with it.
