Diazepam addiction.

Hi, I have been addicted to diazepam for a few years and have finally tapered down over a few months to 1mg per night. I honestly don't think it is strong enough to matter but if I don't have one just before I go to bed I cannot sleep. Also would taking magnesium oxide and 1mg of diazepam interact and cause any reaction? Thank you. J.

Hi John,

I used to take diazepam and magnesium oxide together at night while wheening off the diazepam. I too, didn’t think 1 mg was doing anything so I’m assuming it would be fine but you should always check with doc/nurse just in case your system reacts differently than others. For me, it was no problem. Good luck and try to get some rest.

hi John as you know 1 mg is minuscule in comparison but the hardest to come off ,it’s the final farewell…..kind of the crutch your mind is clinging to ,benzo addiction is no different to class a drugs , not sure about magnesium interaction but as you can buy over the counter doubts about any concerns….best wishes kicking the final 1 mg …p.s. speaking from experience 12 years clean of a substantial daily benzos addiction….do I miss it ….sometimes yes could just do a couple of blues …..is it worth the addiction again no it definitely isn’t ….good luck

Completely agree with you. Took them for over 30 years. Have been off for almost a year. Of course there’s nights I miss them but I’ll settle for a few sleepless nights before ever meeting that demon again. Great job you’ve done! :)

I guess I have been quite lucky. I take 1 mg. of diazepam at night when I feel I need it for several weeks. Then I take a half for a few nights and then none for several weeks. I quite like doing it this way because when you restart it, it has the same original kick.

Weaning off benzos, the last and hardest cut is before bed. But slow

and surely you will get there as I did and many others. :) xx
