Diazepam Withdrawal

I'm really struggling and feeling awful as my psychiatrist tries to reduce my diazepam to 5mg per day. Currently on 10mg. Is anyone else going through the same thing with their GP? 😒😒😒

Hi

Did your Dr drop you right down from 10 to 5? That's too rapid

I've had to order some off the dark web πŸ•ΈοΈ. My GP won't budge. It's as if they are encouraging you to acquire them illegally. Paid via PayPal so hopefully they'll be a decent batch. Branded as well. I'll taper down at my pace. Sometimes you have to Dr yourself I suppose

Please be very careful.

I would have had a few words for that Dr even suggesting that but you weren't aware it was wrong I'm assuming.

Most definitely let the Dr know what he did is unacceptable. Bring in some literature on the weaning process.

Please keep us posted as to how you are doing

That is quite a drop. It is barely prescribed in the UK so we have to acquire it by other means. Why don't you try 3 quarters of a 10mg for a week. To do it properly it should be done with water and measuring but I could never be bothered with that. I got hooked on lorazepam and used diazepam to get off it because diazepam has a long half life as opposed to other benzos. Many people still use the Ashton method, if you scroll down to page 41 it is about tapering diazepam benzoinfo.com/wp-content/up...

Sorry to hear your going through withdrawals. I have been on Valium, lorazapam, clonazapam but am careful not to take a high dose age and am able to quit them with no problem. I would only take 1/2 of a 5 MG. That Is all I needed. The higher doses can be addictive. Taper town at your Dr.s advice/instructions. Take it one day at a time, you will be fine.

Going from 10 to 5mg is a big drop and I'm really feeling it Maxy.

Ask if you can do a slow taper. Dropping that much is way too fast. Ask if you can drop 1/4 tab at a time for at least two weeks before going to the next level of 1/2 tab for two weeks, etc.. Let them know how bad your withdrawal symptoms are and push for them to let you do it slowly! Good luck - I know withdrawal from that is hell. :-(

I will do exactly that Kindly. Here in the UK they seem to be in a rush getting people off benzos. I'm going to give my GP Hell because he needs to know that's what I'm going through. Thanks my friend for your help πŸ‘
