hi, I haven’t posted on here for 3 yrs now, I’m 55yrs of age, I have been prescribed 20mg a day of diazepam now for over 30 yrs and my gp has now again decided to reduce my dose, without even speaking to me, my psychiatrist advised the gp not to take them off me as they did the same during lockdown, which gave me a nervous breakdown and it’s happening again, I have no fight left in me, I just give up now, any advice would be really helpful. Thankyou

I’m so sorry that this is happening to you. Since when does your GP have the last word re your psychotropic meds. Please call your psychiatrist bye or she should have the last word re your mental health. Please call as soon as your therapist’s office is open. U have the power to take control over your mental health issues. I’m say healing prayers for your body and soul. I’m here for you.
Hugs 🤗 S
Thankyou so much for your support, there is no talking to the gp as he is so against diazepam
I will ring the psychiatrist now to see if he will see me asap but I doubt it, to be honest I’m just giving up now, I have no more fight left in me but Thankyou so much for your reply
If you are giving up or feel that you are totally spent. Nothing left.
Then call 911 or drive yourself to the nearest hospital that can help you with your life situation. One that has a psyche ward that will look at all things going with you both mental and physical.
Honestly, I suffered incessantly for eons and just never thought there was any help or hope.
Checked myself in last year when I was sounding/feeling like what your experinecing.
I'm a new man
Just my opinion but you are in control and are the best doctor in the room. If one of your doc aren't on the same page as the others then find ones that are. Whatever it takes to find those answers.
The hospital will take care of you and you won't have to think of opposing opinions.
Does that mean that a hospital will always get it right as was my success story. Well we know how it works and maybe not.
Point is your exhausted.
Let someone take care of you
Don't give up!
Much love my friend
And prayers You are now on my list
I am sorry you don’t have a more sympathetic GP. I think benzodiazapines are generally being phased out because of their addictive properties. It took me 6 months to come off them by tapering the dose extremely gradually; my psychiatrist told me just to stop immediately but thank goodness I had done some research and tapered instead. Surely if you did the same and initially took something else in conjunction with Diazapam your GP could not object? But you know how you feel so stick to your guns and seek medical help from people who will support you, not dictate to you. Wishing you all the very best x
