I have been undergoing treatment for Anxiety, i get a ball of nerves and waves of fear. noramlly connected to a normal bodily function currently the frequency I go to the loo, less equals less anxiety more equals bad anxiety.
I am practicing mindfull ness to keep me in the moment and not get carried away bu intrustive or negative thoughts.
I have had 3 really good days in a row, but this AM woke up feeling really anxious, is this normal when working on recovery?

Yes they are a normal part of your recovery and the good thing is that they mean you are making progress. The other good thing is that the setbacks don't last as long as they use to because you are learning more each time. It takes time and diligence to desensitize yourself to the anxious sensations but know that it is just excess adrenalin in your body that will dissipate. The other important thing is to accept that the anxious thoughts were originally trying to protect you and keep you safe but now as an adult you can take care of yourself and no longer need it's help, so when the fearful thoughts come up, be rational with yourself, reassure yourself about what they are and don't believe them.
One of the things I did when I started recovering is that when I started feeling like I was having a setback or panic attack, I would try to make the anxiety feelings even more intense and last longer. i would also purposely try to make myself have a panic/anxiety attack and force myself to just sit with it and tolerate it. I would also force myself to think the scariest thoughts I could just to provoke the anxiety/panic. The more you can prove to yourself that the anxiety/panic wont hurt you and call it's bluff and desensitize yourself the more it helps accelerate and strengthen your healing.
Recovery from anything is a process. Don’t beat yourself up. We all experience setbacks on the road to recovery. Keep up the good work and know that better days are ahead
