so I picked up my prescription today. Right now actually. And it came with a really scary list of side affects. I don’t take n have never taken medication consistently for anything so this is really fucking scary to me. I’m current sick with a cold so I don’t even know if I should take them right now, I also just started my period n the medicine says not to mix with ibuprofen so should I hold off on starting it till next week? My psychiatrist knows all this but it genuinely sounded like she wasn’t hearing my concerns. I’m just really scared guys. I don’t want to get sicker. N I can’t see a primary doctor till January n I haven’t been in a few years n I’m just scared

Hi CaliBoa x We are not able to give medication advice but let me tell you what I

have done in the past regarding meds. I never started them when I was sick with

something such as a cold or the flu as well as when I had my period. It's difficult enough

for an anxious person to start medication w/o adding other issues going on at the same

time.

I will also tell you that I NEVER read the pamphlet with the meds. There is always going

to be a list of possible side effects that in itself would scare the hibbie jeebies out of me.

By taking medication with an open mind, it allows me to think positively on it working

and hopefully making me feel better in the long run.

Of course the choice is always yours and your doctors. I'm just agreeing with you in

that I would start after you feel physically better. Good Luck :) xx

Best to you!

The best place to go to get dependable medication advice is your pharmacist. That's what they do after all.

If you're prescribed this antidepressant to take long-term, it's best to have a conversation about the conflict with ibuprofen. Especially if you take that regularly.

I can tell you that I've been taking meds for a long time and if I need to take an over the counter pain reliever, I had no issue. I do agree that you could ask the pharmacist.

You have just learned the hard way that one of worst thing you can do is read the list of side affects or google your symptoms. The list of side affects are there to cover and protect the company from liability and they have to list anything that might have come up in their trials.

The thing about a med is that you will never know if it can help you unless you try it and give it adequate amount of time to take affect, which can be up to 4 - 6 weeks for a lot meds. The other thing is that you can always quit it if you find it's not working for you. We all react differently to meds so you never know unless you try it and know your anxiety is blowing things out of proportion.

Not what you're looking for?
