I was subscribed Valium in the late 1970s & it worked in that it cured my social anxiety & I could live a normal life. I got married, had children & bought a house. Everything was fine apart from the fact I was addicted for over 40 years but as long as I had the tablets, I was happy & content.
I managed to come off them 2 years ago when I replaced Valium with Codeine. One thing that amazes me is the fact that there is no similar medicine. Nothing has changed since the mid 70s. Valium is still the best option for me & nothing on the market comes close. Half a century & nothing to replace Diazepam. I thought that very odd.

I’ve been prescribed Diazepan 2mg as and when whilst increasing my dose of Sertraline. I’m on day 8 and getting severe spikes. Doctor has told me to use Diazepan but now I’ve got severe Diazepan anxiety if I take it. I’m terrified of addiction and tolerance though doctor said she has no worries that will happen to me!
Bull. Trust yourself. The stuff is very addictive, and tolerance will develop if you take it for any length of time. When that happens, getting off is bad. Very bad.
I have had pain for 3 years that has no reason/diagnosis. The doctor gave me stronger and stronger tablets. But the codeine produces constipation and despite having pain I have managed to get off the codeine. The disruption was I never knew when I would have a bowel movement and whether would be soft or hard. So didn't/don't go out much.
