Does anyone else feel like their period induces mania? Or the opposite are you depressed in a way that seems to be more than hormone related? This month before I started I was way more emotional/depressed than usual but I also do have a lot of life change going on as well. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this?

i get extremely depressed and can even get suicidal whenever I get mine.
Thank you for sharing. I thought I was the only one. My hormones hate me because I have hypothyroidism too.
I wonder if there is a link between the two because I have hypothyroidism as well. I don't think so, though, since I've had a really bad emotional reaction whenever I have my period ever since it started. I remember taking oestrogen pills because of it. I don't remember having been on them for long though.
My doctor has me on Progesterone leading up to the start of my cycle. I don’t know if there’s a correlation between my period, my hypothyroid medication, and Lamotrigine. I may have to do some research. Thank you for sharing with me, 💚
I know I’m always way more moody and depressed when I go through my time of the month. Then when it’s over I feel much better. Now I’m 52 and going through menopause. I never know if I’m going to get it or not right now.
I’m so thankful for y’all answering my questions and not making me feel crazy.
I want to add to Googoodollsfan regarding mental illness and menopause. I believe hormonal shifts do impact Depression. As I went through menopause, my gynecologist deferred to my psychiatrist regarding my symptoms. Neither would address my question of what is my mental illness and what are symptoms of menopause.
I think many women experience issues before their period, even without a diagnosis. It can be an unhelpful trigger for mania and depression. Don't be like me who didn't find better professionals.
