The month of September is extremely hard for me. I dont get much sleep at all. September is the month I was held at knofe point and raped. When I try to sleep the flashbacks hit almost every time. Its not that i dont want to sleep. Its more if im scared to sleep becase of the flashbacks which sometimes cause me to hurt myself. Anyone been though something like thos that could offer some advice on getting through? I already see a therapist but it just doesnt seem to help with the intensity of the situation.

I’ve never been through what you have. But that must be very difficult to have gone through an experience like that. Try to do things to distract your mind from thinking about that. Get into reading a good book or listen to some positive music. Be grateful that at least your alive. And take good care of yourself. Take a relaxing bubble bath. Or get your nails done. Something like that.

You might try finding a therapist who specializes in treating trauma. Mine used emdr therapy which I found very helpful in healing my trauma. I first did emdr with a regular therapist which wasn't very helpful and then worked with the trauma specialist and it was much more affective.
