Hi people I'm new this platform and it's my first time I'm doing this, I want to say that since childhood I Stammer and its still is affecting me in adulthood. Sometimes I think because I Stammer I may never have a girl in my life. I do worry alot and sometimes I do get anxiety thinking about I'm going to have a lonely life forever. I always wished if I did have a girl in my life I I will always respect her and I want to see her always happy. I also went to Speech therapist but they said my Stammer will not go and the only advice I'm still currently following is breathing techniques it does help sometimes when I'm working or with other groups of people. I do not even notice your stammer. I am sure it is frustrating to feel as if something is wrong with you. Enough to prevent relationships from forming. We all have to play to our strengths though. With the written word being so clever in disguising your stammer, maybe your way to a girls heart is through poetry or song lyrics.

Welcome to the forums!

Sometimes I stutter (in a sense) because I try to get out too many thoughts or ideas in JUST the right manner. Don't beat yourself up because of this difficulty, it does not have to define you or what may come of your life.

The most useful suggestion I could offer would get me censored, sorry.

I can relate to that . My sentences come out completely mixed up or I get my words round the wrong way .

I wanted to tell you that you should never be afraid of having a Stammer. its what makes you who you are in your own unique amazing way. and you cant control it so why be ashamed of it ?❤️❤️ i had a friend who had a mild to severe stammer and she would have a lot of blocks. i helped her for speech class and i made her confident by supporting her by being kind and understanding . and told her the same thing that i told you . it takes one kind person to make a difference . And there are kind understanding people you just have to find one kind person ☺️.

I just get upset when people say to me why am I speaking like that, for that reason I find it very difficult to explain people that I Stammer.

Hello newbie 👋🏽

I don't think you'll be alone all because of a stammer. We all have our little flaws but we shouldn't let those little flaws hold us back from living a life worth living.

My dad stuttered when he met my mom. He mostly mumble when he talked cause he was a bit self conscious about it. Some how they managed dating 😂 & marriage. He was also a dancer and so was my mom. They would hit up the disco TEC 🪩🕺💃 But it would really pop up if he had something to talk about he would stutter. My mom got him to read to her the newspaper out loud while she washed the dishes. That also included the comic strips. Every Sunday. Eventually his stuttering improved. It's barely noticeable now.

I don't know if that will help you out but try it out ❣️

Best of luck to you!

The Last King of England Stammered; (the Queen's Father).

Some folk find that if you read aloud into a recording machine, you can hear yourself speaking and work towards altering the way you speak, with breath control.

I used to find this method worked when I was rehearsing a play, and wanted to get the way I delivered the lines correctly.

Cheers, Midori
