antipsychotics for depression

I haven't been here in months.guess I got my feelings hurt and felt like I wouldn't be missed.

But I need to know if anyone has experience with antipsychotics for depression, I ve tried everything else.

Dr gave me Abilify but a friend and her friend had drolling, tremors right away. Another friend suggested Zyprexa.

I really don't want anything long term that causes withdrawal ..I've been on lmethyfolate mthf, 5htp, St John's wort,Rhodiola that have no withdrawal. They work

ok but isolation with COVID at high risk level and ateo month heat wave have been too much.I can't get outdoors or socialize much.

I haven’t taken anti-psychotics and I currently struggle with anxiety, but I’m commenting to say this: to whoever hurt your feelings, I’m very sorry they did that… I want you to know that you should NEVER feel any more ashamed or bad than you already may with your mental illness… you are not alone, you are not a burden, and you will get through this <3

Maybe not the right person to ask but I believe in holistic treatment that is data driven (st John’s wart… not much data; therapy… lots of data) So you have been seeking treatment a while… given that information I’m gonna ask if you are seeing a therapist? Per suing physical exercise? Changing you diet?

Hi I'm from the UK I was on olanzapine and it's helpful temporarily especially if u can't stop worrying and have repetitive thoughts . Also a side effect is weight gain that's good if your not eating well. And also make you sleepy of a night . I wouldn't say I'm a fan long term as it can affect the good part of thought processes . Took me a few weeks to come off after being on them about a year.

Yeah, SSRIs don’t help me. I’ve tried like 20 or more meds. My getting off of Remeron was not fun - I will slowly titrate off of all meds now. But it really helped me for a long time - sleep and appetite better.

Also, now that I’ve learned… I always start lower and stay lower than what they want. I am pretty sensitive and I am underweight.

I tried Latuda and it helped! I did like 10 to 20 to 40? I had some pins and needles feeling that was bad so I stopped it with increased anxiety.

On no meds, I can’t function.

I am now on 2 mg of abilify. I’ve only been taking it for 2 weeks. So far so good. I don’t want to increase the dosage. I am less depressed. Idk. My friend has autism and abilify helps her with her anxiety.

I tried the natural supplement route and even did neurotransmitter testing but they didn't make any difference and wound up going the pharmaceutical way. I figured that I could always got off of them by doing a slow tapered withdrawal. I ended up doing a psychopharmacological genetic test which determined which meds were best suited for me and started on one it recommended and it has gone well. I also found out I had a MTHFR and CMOT gene mutation and supplement it with SAMe and B-Complex plus I take magnesium glycinate at night along with ashwagandha and phosphatidyl serine to lower cortisol and melatonin to aid sleep. There is a good book out called "The anti-anxiety food solution" by Trudy Scott that has a lot of good information for diet and supplements for anxiety and depression.

After no answers here about adverse effects. I took one and no sleep for two nights! Awful, plus yawning until jaws hurt from it. Beware

God PLEASE do not take Zyprexa! I’ve been slow slow tapering almost 2 yrs after only taking for 4 months for sleep!!! Yes, my dr prescribed this poison for light insomnia. The worst thing that has ever happened to me.
