little update on me

the neurosurgeon was very nice was annoyed that my PCP didn’t give me any more information on it before sending me to the specialist. Not a definite Chiari diagnosis still have to get a spine mri to make sure my spinal fluid is moving freely. At this point she doesn’t think my symptoms are consistent with Chiari because of them being so random and intermittent. Though it doesn’t rule out that I have Chiari I could still develop it down the line or my brain could just be shaped like that. Now just waiting to get spine mri done and go from there. Made it through the appointment. When I asked if it would kill me she said no

Adam should I let go of your hand now?? I am so proud of you, words cannot say.

The anticipational waiting was worse than the

appointment itself. It sounds like you've been given

a reprieve. Embrace that doctor's specialized opinion.

One step at a time. Next Spinal MRI and then this can

be all behind you. Breathe Adam. :) xx

Great job Adam. I know how scary this was for you.

You got through this and that shows your strength. Follow the Dr's plan. Hopefully that MRI will be done soon.

Enjoy the rest of your day

That's good news, Adam, whichever way you look at it. The Neurosurgeon confirmed that Chiari isn't life threatening. She's not even sure that it is Chiari, that depends on the MRI. And she's not convinced that any of your symptoms are down to Chiari.

I tell you, Adam, it's always better that a symptom is health anxiety mimicking the real thing than real organic illness. So it's so far so good.

Remember you told us that of the two measurements to diagnose possible Chiari one of yours was normal and the other was just one point above normal. Bear in mind that whether we are 20 or 80 years old we're all like second-hand automobiles/cars: an examination by an expert will always turn up some imperfection. None of us are 'showroom condition' but so what?

Let's wait for the result from the MRI. If your Neurosurgeon is still of the opinion that none of your symptoms are due to Chiari then it's the strongest indication yet that health anxiety is the cause.

Understanding and reassurance are the first steps towards respite and recovery.

Great reply! I couldn't have said it better. I like your analogy to us being like 2nd hand cars. Adam, I hope everything comes out in your favor!!
