Getting a rhinoplasty (nose job) in 5 days. Anything I can do to tell myself I’ll be OK?

Hello everyone

I haven’t posted to the forums in a while. I’m now seeing a therapist and have noticed a significant improvement in most of my anxiety issues, including the physical symptoms that I mentioned months ago. In a little under a week I’ll be getting a nose job (something I’ve wanted since middle school). The only part I’m afraid of is being put under anesthesia. Anyone know what it’s like? I know I’ll be fine but a small part of me is thinking the absolute worst that could happen. I am aware of the complications which occur very rarely but something about them still scares me. I can’t let go of this now because I know this will do wonders for me. How can I stop worrying about the anesthesia/rare but possible complications?

Hi Mimi,

I have been put under quite a few times each time I was worried but the last time I welcomed it as a much needed and uninterrupted nap!

The anesthesiologist takes note of every detail of your body and bloodwork. They will ask you a million questions and check your stats before even putting you under.

Also multiple people are watching every move each medical team member makes.

It always seems so scary but honestly you will be fine. Just be honest about your medical history and make them aware of everything and you are good to go! Just keep breathing and think about things that make you happy! When I had knee surgery in 2019 I had a song my niece was singing the day before stuck in my head. I kept singing it and thinking of her.

Good luck! You got this!

💚

Mimi, I had a nose job, of sort, many years ago. To straighten the septum & open the sinus cavities. Blessed relief! Been under old anesthesia & new. It getting better all the time! Relax, welcome the good you’re getting! You’ll be fine!

I'm having surgery next week, too. I know what you mean because I, too, have wanted a rhinoplasty since I was a kid. Now I'm 19, and I will finally fulfill my dream. Please tell me how you feel after the surgery. How did it go? In what clinic were you operated? My mom found one of the best plastic surgery clinics for me: newyorkfacialplasticsurgery... . By the way, I decided to start my blog about my appearance changes. If the rhinoplasty surgery goes well, I would like to do an eye color change surgery. I heard about it, and I think it's a good idea.

Hello, so sorry I'm 6 months late. Everything went amazing aside from recovery and I am VERY HAPPY with the result. Best decision I've ever made.
