Antibiotic/chest infection

Hey guys! The past week I’ve had a chest infection and I was prescribed antibiotics three days ago to treat this. This morning I took my dose as normal and was very very sick and dizzy with it my dr told me to stop taking them, the chest infection symptoms have gone but it still hurts my chest a little when I cough which i though was from the severe coughing at the start of my symptoms 7 days ago! Now I have a pain in my right leg and I’m freaking out that it could be a blood clot, I know it’s a big jump but it’s just my health anxiety. It started just behind my knee and now I feel like it’s my whole leg that’s aching but again I’ve been constantly thinking/panicking about it all day. Blood clots are one of my health anxiety “ triggers “ 😭 does anyone have any advise. I’m exhausted from phoning nhs 24 and being checked constantly but I feel as though it’s my only was for piece of mind to be physically checked! Sorry for the long post yet again!

Thank you in advance xxx

Hi Littlechopsxo I doubt you have a blood clot at 24 are you on the contraceptive pill? Drink plenty of water to flush the antibiotics out of your system and have a sensible diet and try no to worry

I’m not on the pill and I am a little over weight so that’s why I’m scared :(

This is a very real cause for almost anyone to be anxious. I guess getting a clean bill of health from the dr is the best thing to do. If you can, do some breathing exercises throughout the day to relax, and be around loved ones.

I called my dr today and explained symptoms over the phone and she just said this doesn’t present like a blood clot as there would be swelling and heat ect which I don’t have! But I’m still a bit scared! ☹️

I know how you feel about the health anxiety. It sucks 😞 when I was put on a high dose of thyroid medication my blood pressure went low 67/97 and doctor just said it's a little low and I had chest pains. He didn't bother to tell me a side effect to thyroid medication is anxious ness, nervousness, depression. It took to me listening to my DARE app call Heart Happy that it's ok if you're blood pressure is a little low as long as you are not like having fainting spells or anything. If you can still do things your good. Once I got my med lowered I was back to 112/68.

If you got a clean bill of health and anxiety starts telling you stuff you have to check anxiety like "hey, doctor told me what it would feel like or look like. I don't have it. You're just trying to scare and it's not going to work this time. Now zip it!"
