This is my first post on this platform. I am a college student and my significant other left for a study abroad trip. While I am somewhat anxious time to time, I have never experienced anything like this. I feel extreme separation anxiety. I haven’t been sleeping well, I feel nauseous, and on the verge of tears throughout the day. They are only going to be gone five weeks but it would be miserable if I feel this bad for that long. I was looking for advice on how to deal with separation anxiety and ways to alleviate the feelings.

Hi and welcome! Can you call/email often or daily? Doing that might help. Also, knowing it's only for 5 weeks should help too, wouldn't you agree?
Thank goodness for Skype and such, right?! My entire family lives on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean from me. I use Messenger to communicate with them and it is wonderful! I can be home without being home.
Try to keep in touch with him/her for the weeks they are gone, but also try to keep busy and in touch with other friends and activities . Maybe meditation would help and/or getting outside and being active if you are able. Luckily it's only for about a month. Hang in there, you can do it!!
