Hello everyone on here. Hope everyone’s had a good day. I’m retired, retired a few years ago due to my mental illness. I find that I’m having a lot of time to THINK. And this of course elevates my depression. I do have plenty of time to do things, but I’m finding it difficult to increase my social network, so to speak. I’ve been trying very hard to make plans with some of my friends but they all seem to be too busy. SAMSON

Socializing
I have given up work too due to mental health. I found it tough at first, but am getting out there again now.
I accessed support groups with like- minded people online. There is also a mental bealth resource centre. I can drive to in under an hour. They do various activities
I recently did a healing by sound class which involved chanting. Unusual, but felt good, also practised laughs.
However, as I stated somewhere else, these are acquaintances rather than friends.
Check Meetup and community classes. You can find stuff cheap or free. I like to go to hiking and movie/dinner groups. I have also taken various classes. I do yoga at the same place too. You see the same people and it is truly a community. If money is an issue your rec center might have something you like to do. Trick is to go regularly. I'm kind of a loaner otherwise. I don't care for my neighbors, I work remote and like you I have plenty of things to do.
