My bad- clarification: horsemanship

Horses range from very hotblooded or tense to more cold blooded temperments in the gentle giants bred to be strong but very easy to work with for farms and carriiages

The hotter or more senstive the horse .....the slower.....and longer........the training..........i have had plenty of thoroughbreds in training for jumping that are terifed and leap over their first ground pole.....next time we may couple them to an older horse....to cue off of....

Colder cross breeds yaw at such stuff.....but they wont have the performance or the adrenal gland levels of say thoroughbreds which are performance horses.....

we accept who and what they are and pace the training or their education to what they can cope with....its wrong to force the horse to fit the book.....totally wrong...

high strung or tense or hot blooded horses are often scared of every step....u wnve to teach them to have a blanket, stand for shoeing stand to be groomed or wear a halter or be bathed or clipped......if u rush the m or arnt super patient....they can panic and rip the barn apart......same if they are left behind and their mates go out for a hack.......

we use this for our students....we dont compare temperments.....as we dont like it when we are bullied by abusive coaches.....therefore.....we dont push senstive students of any age.....we want people to feel safe and gradually nromal fears go awyay...........we dont judge nerves in horses or students......we dont compare bill to sally to george.......i wouldnt want to be treated atht way......

real teachers only care about finding the formula.....that works for the student be they four legged or two..........first time horses jump they usually over jump the fences markedly .......with repetiton and patience .......the fears gradually diminish.....the confidence for both horse and rider ......grow.....whether the fence is two inches or five feet...........challenge is relative......we dont compare someone who is learning to jump six inches to someone who has been in training for 15 years and is comfortagle at four feet

we dont judge we dont think badly of a horse that is scared nor a student or is tense......part of my job to p;ut them at ease....where they will perforeem an learn better....

quiet enviromens work for horses and us......

main point...is not comparing anyhone to another.....find waha works for us....adn trhe pace or methods for each............we dont judge think bad push laugh or

most of us work wth horses are shy and sensive and human....too......nice the horses dont judge and helps our confidncew and the bond grow.......s

try not to judge urself if ur not inherenltly super bold. or not super man or woman......teh horses and dog like us for who we are not what were not....sorry i wasnt clear...try not to stress if ur shy or nervous or tentaive or scared of new or rthe unknown or ......we are too and seen it a mioin times....

whether riding ...or other sitautions.......we all started at the beginibng too.,,,,,

whether riding or learn to drive a car or going to a job interview.....all the same thing......were there not to judge but enourage one anther less we be judged too......we all have our fears and comfort zones.....

take care.......sorry i got upset....just so sad that people feel rejected and unwanted and hopeless.........trust me ...the horses like u juuuuust fine......as do .....all....true teachers..........were students as well as teachers too....in life

well known here by all........i am not exceptional at all......just an old teacher.......crtiics not welcome near my students is all .....then i get really really protective and the green ogre comes out... stay away from my students or horses...........all of us here know what rejection feeels like.....

I agree totally,. horses are like people in more ways than one.

The bold, the bolshie. The calm and confiding, and the ones ranging across the middle.

The horse who lurks at the back of the stable, turns his tail to you and lays his ears back. trying to tell you to stay away from him or he'll kick you silly.

The one who looks out of the stable at you, then pulls faces at you, if you haven't brought a treat, and can bite if you aren't careful.

First one has probably been badly ill treated, second one is likely to have been indulged, especially if he tries to barge out of the stall immediately. No manners, and often he will go on to become Ill-treated if his owner isn't sympathetic but firm.

Horses reflect their owners too, a confident horse can make a confident rider, and the other way around.

Cheers., Midori
