Focus on Others Today

The horrors for the people in Ukraine deserve our deep prayers and thoughts. While many who are NOT in Ukraine "suffer" with anxiety and/or depression, there come certain times when others need our focus. Many here have meds to "maintain" a calmer level. The people in Ukraine have NO MEDICATIONS now to deal with their 24/7 trauma, which keeps growing worse. Do Not "reply", accusing me of "minimizing" your mental health. That is Not the intention. Xanax is helping me, and I am grateful to have it. Just compartmentalize and move your issues to a corner room in your mind and shut the door on them sometimes. In fact, slam the door! It is a critical coping skill to practice. Take time out and truly count your blessings. Be grateful that you are NOT a Ukranian today, losing Everything, AND the people you love in such a violent and frightening way. Please.🙇‍♀️

Yes and don’t forget about the Russian people who have no choice about what their leaders do. Or the soldiers that are being ordered to fight in a war that they do not wish to battle. Their army is not a 100% volunteer army. This whole mess is about a the egos of a few politicians and it is destroying the lives of millions of individuals all over the world. Shame on the politicians!

The Russian people are also victims but I don’t think anything less would have any affect. This is one crazy leader.

Not minimizing anything but let’s remember Syrians and other invasions that didn’t get as much attention. I feel like if the airtime was equivalent we would be just as horrified. The lack of attention is probably something Putin counted on and obviously miscalculated.

I'm sorry but this post is incredibly patronizing and rude. First of all to say that just because others have it worse we shouldn't suffer is not only wrong it's actually harmful. It does nothing but tell people that they are not allowed to suffer because someone else has it worse. So what no one is allowed to have struggles and suffer if they are not immediately dying? What about people with stage 4 cancer? Should they just get over their struggles and go help others? Also, there are people who right now have it worse than those in Ukraine. Child soldiers and war in Africa is constant. So are the people of Ukraine not allowed to be hurt because someone has it worse? Just because someone has anxiety and you don't think that is a big deal doesn't mean it's easy for them at all. And just because there is a war going on doesn't invalidate any of the problems people have now. It's incredibly condescending and arrogant to say otherwise. Tell a mother who is about to lose her house to stop worrying about her child's safety because a war in Ukraine is happening. That is not how any of this works. You can't just turn off anxiety or depression or any other mental illness for that matter. And congratulations for you. You have meds that work. For others they are not so lucky. Some can't take meds because the meds don't work. Some can't for medical reasons. But to assume that we all just have a quick and easy fix is not only patronizing but it's a blatant disregard for other peoples real struggle. Also, you have no idea what others are going through so to say that others are not in trauma 24/7 is not only arrogant it's a down right rejection of reality. Some people are in trauma 24/7 some peoples lives are on the line but of course they should shut up and just forget about it right? Again, this post is not helpful and does nothing but belittle those that are struggling and suffering by telling them their problems are not that bad when you actually have no idea what they are going through or how it impacts them. If you want to write a post about Ukraine fine. But don't belittle people by saying they should just learn to compartmentalize better. What you call compartmentalization I call ignoring the issue. And that has never helped anyone.
