I've been struggling with bad anxiety and depression lately and I am finding it difficult to concentrate at work. I feel kind of restless, like I just want to get up and move. (Most of my time is spent sitting at a desk.) But then I also don't want to do anything. I don't have the motivation or concentration to do my work.
I'm able to get what needs to be done, done but anything extra is hard and even getting the minimum done takes me longer than it should. I guess I am lucky that my boss and coworkers don't seem to really notice.
I have to interact with the public a lot and it is hard to act happy all the time as well. Does anyone have any good tips on how to focus at work? Working an 8 hour work day has just been so difficult lately.
Thanks for reading and any advice!

I’m sorry to hear that you are going through bad anxiety and depression. Are you seeing a therapist? Are you on medications? If not, I hope you can check with your doctor, depression is treatable with sessions of therapy and some medications. I hope you can get the help you need to get better.
I have a friend who is going through the same experience and she works as a front desk. She says that smiling at people when someone is depressed is truly a struggle. She decided to seek counselling and she is starting to get better. Although not yet fully recovered but she made a lot of improvement.
I hope things will work out for you. You are in my prayers, God bless.
Thanks, Pink318. I am on medication and am trying to find a therapist now. I hope that helps but it is hard to find a doctor accepting new patients.
Sounds to me like it could be your anxiety..when my flares..I have trouble concentrating.Do you do any deep breathing..it does help me out. Count to 4 while breathing in through your nose, then out through your mouth. I wish you all the best! Love, peace, light, joy & hugs!
I have been in your situation and the best advice I can offer is talking about it. Talk to your doctor, see what support they can offer with talking therapies. In the meantime you can lean on samaritans too.
Do you have a support system like friends and family that you could talk to?
Dont give yourself a hard time. It happens and unfortunately it won't be the last. Just do what you can and try talk it through with someone you trust.
I'm nervous to talk to my boss about it. I have reached out to my employee assistance program that my job offers for help finding a therapist to help with my anxiety and depression.
I have my family to help support me, unfortunately they can't be with me all the time I am working.
Thanks for the advice! It's nice to know I am not alone!
You are most definitely not alone. The work thing is up to you. You definitely need a support system. Someone or many people you can lean on and talk about it all. It really helps to talk about it and get it off your chest
