Is this site for help or indoctrination?

Is this site engineered to help sufferers or to indoctrinate those who already in a disturbed situation? I’m interested in knowing if I have an opinion and it doesn’t fit with your criteria will you delete me? This causes me so much anxiety and depression, to be dumbed down and deleted is not what this forum is about. It’s supposed to help people suffering. Do you have the right to choose who’s problem is worse than others.

Hi have a look at this post which might be helpful. Scroll down to the bottom to see the response from admin.

Point is with problems things that appear silly and trivial to one person aren't to another!

No no one has the right to tell someone their concerns aren't important as those things are important to the person personally.

Hi there Stephen0949. The site is to seek assistance for this that may feel depressed or anxious about something and then allowing another to offer help or advice. How are you? Are you here seeking assistance or here to help and just converse with others?

No we are here to help and we learn from each others problems and conditions. If you are in need for support and understanding. If you feel the site is not for you you have the right to leave.

This is a site of like-minded people who are all sharing their own issues and share with others who are looking for those they can relate to.

I totally understand your question. I have the same concerns about Healthunlocked. The users here are brilliant and do their best to be helpful though despite any lack of freedom. (I fear that even this comment I am making may get deleted. I like the people here but I am not comfortable here)

I got banned from healthy eating but I feel they did me a favour as it was rubbish anyway!

Their loss!

I feel like Healthunlocked are just waiting to ban me altogether. I feel like they are looking for a reason to justify it because they don't like me and my thoughtful feedback to them.

Doubt it …it’s not that easy to get banned I’ve been trying for ages

This a crowd source community. Most are from uk and second is us from what I can gather. I have seen people from Egypt, Bahrain and other places. Many religions are also represented including but not limited to Muslim, Christian, Judaism, as well as people who are agnostic or atheist. And yet we find things in common and can offer support. There are always bad actors who want shut you down or tell you what you should think. That’s true everywhere. That said this could be a great place to learn how be discerning about those voices because there are plenty more that are not.

I was in an HU community that did downplay peoples' experiences (mine included) because it didn't follow what the "popular crowd" and research said, but I haven't seen it this one.

I had an upset back in September when I was accused of being bitter by a poster on the bereavement board as I dared to say about being full of anger and resentment after my father had died.

Ok maybe my attitude was bitter over that but I'm not always bitter though!

in reply to

Ouch. I'm sorry abour that. Anger and resentment are all part of grieving, so that seems odd that you would encounter that (especially on a bereavement board!). I lost my mom in August. Grief is hard, confusing, and takes as long as it takes

in reply to

Things are a lot better now time has passed by.

I'm sorry about your mum.

I think that poster that said those things was very stupid and not thinking about how things like that can hurt.

As far as my experience has been. It's more of a support group yes you have the right to your opinion but so do others I do t think you will be deleted as long as you don't break the guidelines and are respectful when dealing with opposing opinions

Not sure what you mean by "indoctrination" but I have found this site and other HU sites to be free of pushing any agenda other than having general common sense and courtesy guidelines that are typical of any health or mental health site. You can choose to except them or not.

Overall, i've found the members here to be supportive, compassionate and to have good information and advice and to genuinely care for each other.

We're all on our own but similar paths and some of us need to vent, some to just share their story, some want help or answers and some just want to connect and some just want to help and it can vary at different times. Some people leave and return and some people leave for whatever reasons. We're also in different time zones so response times vary.

Welcome to the site if you choose to continue.
