I had to put my dog to sleep on Tuesday. I'm so sad and like someone punched me in the stomach. I'm so lost. She was my best buddy and I didn't realize how much I talked to her. Crazy right? She has seen me through so much and was always there. I'm sort-of alone now.

I still get tears when I think about my cat. He was 15 years old when he was put down, his illness was causing him pain, yet it was so difficult to make the final call. That was more than 12 years ago. The sadness is always there, but so are the cherished memories.
Time is the only thing that will soften the blow, sadly. 😕

A pet is like family and leaves such a big void when we lose them and you are not crazy at all
I hope eventually you will be able to reflect on all the happy memories and time you spent together as no one can take that away from you x

I’m so so sorry about your best friend! Our dog lets me very on her anytime and she knows when I need to pet and cuddle her when I’m down. I’ve lost 2 wonderful dogs I was so close to, and it is such an emotional hurt. I hope you can get another dog soon, because it does help when you are ready to give another one your love ❤️ Dogs do have unconditional love for their loved ones!
I know the loss of a good dog is very hard to deal with. It is almost the same as the loss of a family member. I get quite attached to dogs for some reason. It is really difficult for me as well.
So sorry, they really are a best friend.

Sorry to hear that sad news. I know you are missing your best friend very much. My condolences to you. But I have hope, soon you will get a new friend, and that friend wash your sad thoughts from your bottom of the heart❤️.
My heart goes out to you, one of the hardest things i've had to do is let my fur girl go on, i'm tearing up just writing this out. It hurts like hell and it's ok to grieve as much and as deeply as you need to over it. When you have experienced unconditional love from another being it's hard to let it go but it was so worth the experience, best to you.

Firstly..I am so sorry...and secondly...as you will have realised MANY of us have been through the same horrible experience and understand. It is grief....whether an animal or not...I still get tearful about my old dog and he died a decade ago and I have another dog now ! Be kind to yourself and give yourself some time to adjust. Your dog was your friend...the friend that didn't care that you were depressed or hadn't got dressed that day...animals give unconditional love...and never judge. It is not surprising that you are feeling so sad...I feel sad reading your post...but know that we are here in cyber-space and understand...think of something silly that your friend used to do that made you smile when you suddenly get upset...or talk to to your dog...I still do that sometimes...but know that your dog is now at peace. Dear Dancer,My sincere sympathy over the loss of your fur baby. I feel your pain and loss over loosing your best friend. On Oct. 2 I had to to have my 17 year old Maltese put to sleep. It was and is terribly painful! All I do is 😭
Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. You take good care. Have you tried the antidepressant Effexor? I have been on it for several years. Start with lowest dose and increase over time if it agrees with you.

That is one of the hardest days to go through. I have been there. I miss him so much. I keep his memories and photos fresh. I foster dogs, too. They are so hard to return to the shelter once they are healthy.

No we don't really understand each others language , but we completely get the sentiments .He helps me to understand our mortality and that I want to make the best of our relationship . You seem to have had that . You have the love of a community that
