I had to take him back to rescue center cause this breed needs way more exercise than I could give!!! Its so hard not being able to keep him but it's just so he can find the right family who exercises a lot so he can be truly happy!

Sorry you had to do that LD. Collies are notorious for needing a lot of exercise and you need to be pretty fit to have one. x

I appreciate that. I just want him to get that right home cause he was hating it here. I was walking him about 2 hrs in the morning, 10 times around my complex, 20 minute walk at night and even bought a 50 ft lead so he could run and play fetch. Still not even close to enough exercise as you know. They have no off button😄 Need dog who will be ok with a few long walks a day but can rest too!!

I have heard that Greyhounds are great dogs for not needing much exercise. Apparently 20 minutes a day is plenty for them. You also find many who need good homes.

I don't think labs need a huge amount of exercise or the smaller dogs. Spaniels and Jack Russells need loads so avoid those. x

Oh that's great to know!! Thank you! Ill keep an eye out for those breeds. Iv e always been a lover of big dog breeds but I live in a small condo so need to make sure next dog can handle living here with a couple long walks a day. My last girl I had 14 years was shepherd lab mix and even 10 years later I say good morning and goodnight to Cheyenne! Miss her so much!!!

I'm so sorry you had to take him back. I know exactly how you feel, except mine was a cat. He was one of the quirkiest cats I'd ever had and was so entertaining. But he started attacking my young granddaughter to the point that she was afraid to come over. I tried putting him in another room when she was over but many times she'd stay with me all weekend. It finally got to the point that I knew he had to go. He went to a home with no children and settled in perfectly. As glad as I am that he's in a good home it's still heartbreaking. I hope you can adopt another dog that fits with your lifestyle. Pets are great therapy and comfort.

So sorry to hear about your kitty but that's great it found great home. That's all I'm hoping for max. He's so damn adorable that I'm sure he'll be adopted soon. I'm going to local dog shelter to see if I can find right dog that will be a great fit. Its been 10 years since I lost my best friend so its been very hard being so alone. I adopted max to be therapy dog like you mentioned. I agree with you 100 % that they are great for making us happy and I can't wait to find great dog I can spoil rotten and to love!!!

It looks like you got some good advice here on which breeds to avoid in your situation.

It might help to ask the people at the shelter what they think would work for you. Just be patient! You'll have the dog of your dreams very soon!

Oh thanks so much!! Good idea asking them what dog would fit best. Ill do that Tuesday when I go to the shelter. I just want to rescue a great dog who needs and deserves love and affection plus a couple good walks a day. Your awesome!!! Ppl have been giving good advice for sure like you did. Thanks😄😄

I have Pugs, and their great. Take them out several times a day to do their business, and right after they eat, and their happy little campers :) They enjoy a nice walk just as much as they enjoy a nice nap, lol Their very loyal and attentive, they love to play with their little toys, and to snuggle on the couch with you. Their so easy to care for, and their not a high maintenance dog by any means. There are a lot of Pugs in Shelters and Rescues in need of good homes. I've had Pugs now for over 17 years, they've helped me through a lot of rough times. I don't know what I'd do without them. You can't go wrong with a Pug :)

Ok that's great to know!! Thank you!! I'm so glad they've helped you thru those rough times. I'm looking for such a dog like a pugs needs. They sound like great dogs😄🐾💗 We'll see what's at the shelter on Tuesday! Hoping for the best😊 I thank you for the advice on that breed cause that sounds almost like a dog I'm looking for. Thanks for sharing😄😂

O I'm so sorry puppy didn't work out.

That is an awful lot of exercise for sure! How do you know he wasn't getting enough,?

Some dogs need time to get acclimated to there new home and may act up. Anyway I wish you much luck un finding the right one..

Mine is half pitbull and half boxer but acts like a couch potato🥔 lol

Lol to funny he's a couch, potato!!😂😂 I guess I'm not sure but he always turned his back to me like he was mad at me. Not loving at all unless I picked him up to kiss and hug him. I felt alone even tho he was here. This breed never shuts down. No off button!! Plus he's 1 years old which is even harder to handle. I bought 50 ft lead to play fetch so he could get his burst of energy to run. He really needs someone who runs 5 or more miles a day. Most ppl here in Utah exercise a lot. Lots of fit ppl but I'm not. Paws said I might be able to come see him on Tuesday. I ask and she said give it a couple days and she'll let me know. I appreciate your advice and for sharing. Everybody has been so supportive and so caring with so much great advice!!!

I'm so sorry to hear that you could not keep your dog. I was so sad when I had to give my poodle away. He needed an expensive surgery that I couldn't afford at the time. A very loving and compassionate couple took him and paid for his surgery. I miss my little guy. You'll miss your buddy but you'll have peace when you envision him running and jumping ☺.

Oh I'm so sorry!! Its devastating as you know. I just need a smaller breed cause I'm in a small condo which was terrible for him and his breed being a mini Aussie. His exercise requirements were insane!!! I'm happy to hear your little guy got adopted and had his surgery!!! Thanks for understanding cause I was so worried ppl would judge me for giving him back to PAWS. It was only to make him truly happy!!

Aww what a lovely dog! Is it a collie....could you not try for a smaller dog? I don't know where I'd be without my Bailey and Bella x

He was a mini Aussie which are notorious exercise freaks!!! Need to run constantly. I live in a small condo which was Hell for him. Problem is I have to get small small breed cause of living here. I have a dog from shelter on the couch with me right now but have to take her back too cause she's a border collie mix. Sweet and so lovable!!! Being its so small in here her massive shedding is getting everywhere like counter tops, inside fridge, covering the floor big time, all over my clothes, in my mouth, and nose!! It wouldn't be so bad if I had a house with a yard. I want to keep her soooo bad but her shedding is horrible. The pound lets you do overnight stay to see if shell work out but darn it it won't. That's why I have to get small breed dog. I'm a big dog lover so it will really hard to have small breed. My last girl was a beautiful shepherd lab and I miss her terribly. She Shed a lot too but nothing like this!! I feel horrible again cause I just love this girl but it would be hard on her to live here too. What breeds are Bella and Bailey?? My brothers dog is named Bella and my parents dog is Bailey too funny!!!😄😄

Yes they do have a lot of energy..my one daughter had one & boy oh boy they require a lot..not for me. I sure hope all is well with..I sure have missed you...how are you doing?
