Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well.

As for myself, I’m still recovering from my panic attack last week. It triggered a very bad headache. I feel better after taking Tylenol. And I get lightheaded from being in bed too much. But I started to do some in-place exercises just to get me off the bed. Slowly but surely getting better.

Taking it easy.

As far as my mental health, It will be an interesting/challenging fall & winter here in California. Since my anxiety started around December it gives me some sort of flashbacks. Also it will be a year this January of being a member of this forum. Which is the same time I was diagnosed with GAD.

I feel like it will be different now since I have the knowledge and tools to cope with my anxiety.

So in other news me and my wife decided to adopt a kitty. He’s name is Beethoven 🐱

So now we have 3 animals in the house. 4 if you include me. Lol

Here is a picture of them all together.

That’s it for now and I hope you guys have a great week.

Einstein / Beethoven/ Kepler

People around meHi it’s Shnookie. Happy 😃 that U R recovering from your panic attack and that U have obtained better coping skills. Love your dog and cats. It must be comforting to have them around. I’m hanging in here have issues with my new job and feel that I need to start looking for new employment opportunities. However, I’m lucky that that I found this website and have supportive nonjudgmental people around me. Sending U good karma. I’m here 4 U. Hugs 🤗 S

Hi Shnookie,

Sorry you’re having job problems.

Just remember not to overwork yourself and put your health first, physical and mental.

It’s something I did at my old job is I really did work too much and overworked myself.

After I finally quit they easily replaced me. With 3 employees of course cause I was doing the job of 3 people.

It was good pay for me but not worth my mental health.

Please put yourself first before anything. Your health comes first at all times.

Thank U for your kind words. Selfcare is very important. The problem at this job right now is that I am not receiving enough hours. I hope that when I finish paid training my hours will increase. This week I’m also going to start looking 4 a new job as a back up plan.

Oh I see. Yeah usually after the training or the probation period you get more hours.

But even if it doesn’t work out there is a Worker shortage in America. I’m very positive you will find something more suitable and that you will like.

Employers are in very need of people to work right now.

Animal therapy. The best. They look happy. Even the kitty (Kepler ? ) who doesn’t like her picture taken. Glad you’re feeling better…😊

Yeah haha you noticed. Well both cats are pretty mad at each other right now cause cats are very territorial.

But they have no choice they have to get along if they’re living under the same roof.

😁We’ll see about that. 🐾

I love the picture of the pets! I’m glad you shared.

I’m hoping your setbacks are temporary and you’re feeling more like yourself soon!

I’m not sure if you’re wanting advice so ignore below if you’re not. 😜

My doctor suggested ibuprofen for tension headaches.

I’m also learning about dialectical behavior therapy. When you’re feeling too much distress, you can:

Put something cold on your face, take a cold shower for one minute, or even submerge your face in a bowl of cold water for thirty seconds.

Exercise.

Breathing exercises.

Body scan muscle relaxing meditation.

(Yoga can incorporate all of the last three. There is chair yoga for tougher days.)

Hello Rafiki11

Thank you for the pointers. Even though I already knew the majority of them, I will never ignore your advice.

Cold showers and Magnesium is what has been working for me.

I feel like magnesium was keeping my anxiety at bay and I stopped taking it for no reason to be honest. Now I’m taking it again.

As far as my headache I’m 95% sure it was a migraine this whole time. I’ve suffered from headaches since I was in my teens, it runs in the family. So I’m pretty accurate on what type of headache I have but they can be tricky sometimes.

Ibuprofen does work best for tension and migraine but it will destroy my stomach specially cause of my ulcerative colitis.

So I have to stick with Acetaminophen.

Always good to hear from you. And I’m glad you like the picture of my furry animals lol

I think everyone needs to be reminded of what we already know. When we get sucked into a low point, it’s hard to access what we know sometimes.

I’m also kinda data-driven so knowing the science behind an approach feels more effective to me than just “self-help tips.”

I’m sorry your UC affects what medications you can take. 😕

I can honestly say UC and Covid is the main reason for my Health Anxiety

That makes sense. Anxiety about something that could cause you physical harm gets pretty tricky.
