My dad, my dad's best friend, my best friend, my best friend's sister, and my best friend's brother all got cancer at the same time. What had been a time of feeling completely useless, because I couldn't work full-time on account of my chronic migraines, has turned into a clear representation of there being a reason for everything. I am the one who has been available to be there for my dad and get him into Mayo Clinic and go there with him and figure things out for him. I have been able to be there for my friend.

Not only that, it is not an accident that these people have these illnesses simultaneously. My dad and I were on a road trip together last weekend and discussing the (non)coincidences that have been happening because of these illnesses. Something divine and miraculous is occurring here.

I'm sharing this because I cannot imagine life without my dad or my best friend. That thought is so incredibly depressing. But through all of this, I am being shown signs that, whatever happens, however painful, it will be temporary. And they will be right here, I just won't be able to see them like I do now. But someday I will again. This gives me peace. And for me, peace in the midst of a storm is the best kind of prayer. 💜

Good evening Your post is deeply poignant and touching and I am inspired by your total serenity and trust in the Almighty.

I thought the poem of Footprints in the sand would be the most evocative to resonate the immense faith you have with the Will of God

Foot prints in the sand

One night I dreamed a dream .

As I was walking along the beach with my Lord .

Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life .

From each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand one belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene , my life flashed before me , I looked at the footprints in the sand ,

I noticed that at many times during the part of my life especially at the lowest and saddest times , there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me , so I asked the Lord about it .

“Lord , you said once I decided to follow you you’d walk walk with me all the way .”

But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life , there was only one set of footprints.

“I don’t understand why, when I needed you the most , you would never leave me “.

He whispered “my precious child , I love and will never leave you , never , ever during your trials and testings . When you saw only set of footprints, it was then that I carried you “.

As soon as I read your post I recalled this beautiful poem for you

I hope and trust it can give you the comfort you undoubtedly deserve during this testing time.

Hi Ashlae.

Did all of these 5 people live in the same area for a period of time?

I ask as alarm bells are going off in my head & it may need looking into .

I bet they all appreciate how U try to be there for them as much as you can be BUT remember to take care of ur own mental wellbeing too. Most times we place ourselves on the back burner as we try to be there for others.

As for how they all came to get cancer in a short space of time could mean where you've all lived could've had a bearing on why they have it & how many others that lived in that area too are living with cancer.

Again ur loved ones are fortunate to have u in their corner & please remember u need to look after urself too & no it's not being selfish making sure that ur mental health is in a good place as we need it when it comes to situations where we lose loved ones too.

Did they all get the same kind? What kind is it?

Only two had the same kind--breast cancer. But really, I'm not sure if the kind matters so much because we all have cancer cells that are just dormant in us. It's just a matter of something happening in our bodies that activate them. Right? And we can react differently to the same thing than the next person. It's not like a disease that we catch. So it's more the quantity of people than the types. Or am I wrong? I might not know what I'm talking about.

My best friend also lost her first husband, both her parents and two close friends to cancer. Four of them lived in the same area. One lived in the same state.
