Hey everyone!! My doctor increased my dosage of cymbalta. I have had a lot of anxiety lately. I know I can work myself into a full blown attack. I am already a grandmother to 3. My son and his wife are expecting soon. One of my phobias is having an attack while holding the baby. I know it sounds crazy. It happened to me before. And with panic attacks.. I avoid where I had the attack or feel uncomfortable. I get a horrible feeling of detachment. Maybe I am crazy. I’ve been suffering since I was 18. Thank God for medication. But it’s soooo tiering living with fear when I have no worries in the world!

Well, first of all, be glad you have no worries in the world. When you hold the baby do it from a sitting position. Do you feel the Cymbalta is working for you? If not talk to your doctor about a change. I also take Cymbalta, but feel it does not help very much. All of the SSRIs, except Cymbalta, venlaxafine, Buspar and a few others also can cause low sodium, which can be an issue if you are older. I am in the process of reducing Cymbalta and may try Buspar, which is not an SSRI, but is supposed to reduce anxiety. Another option is Paxil, which I had taken before, but would then have to have relatively frequent sodium tests.
I am also generally quite anxious. You are definitely not crazy. I also have no real worries, so I understand what you mean. Anxiety is very tiring, both mentally and physically. x
Thank you for answering. It seems like it was always working. Now I’m not so sure?? She increased the dosage the other day. I’m also on Wellbutrin with it. And of course clonopin. I just want to feel like a normal person! I’m sure you get it!!! I don’t know why this phobia is so bad?? Maybe because they live very close?
I am on 90mg of Cymbalta and the way it was explained to me is that 60mg and below works on norepinephrine, 90mg and above works on serotonin and norepinephrine. And I totally get the fear of having a panic attack while in a compromised situation. I get that way with driving sometimes.
