Does anybody else have trouble climaxing since taking sertraline

I have been on 50mg sertraline now for 4 weeks and Iv only just realised it could be these that are making me unable to climax, I thought I was just tired at first but even after plenty of sleep I still can’t get there. Does anybody else have this problem?

It never bothered me but that's just me. Talk to doc maybe this is only a temporary symptom until your body gets used to sertraline. 50 mgs is a very low dose. Long term you should be ok. Ask doc what to do in the meantime.

Thankyou for your reply, yeah I’ll give it abit longer and try my doctor again, I can’t get an appointment until end of next month anyway so I’ll see how I get on 😊

If the med is working then I’d say “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. If it isn’t you may want to give it another week or two to see how it plays out. Otherwise you don’t have to deal with sexual side effects; your doc would almost certainly give you a different one that is unlike to cause the same problem.....

I did have an issue for awhile. I’m on 150mg and I used to have multiples(4-5 in a row) then it was hard to have 1. Now I can have 1 maybe 2 but not like before. I have a male friend who’s also on sertraline and he has mentioned having issues too.

It’s hard isn’t it because it’s started to cause problems as he thinks it’s him and Iv only just realised that it’s since I started taking these. Doesn’t do much for his confidence even though I have told him. Thankyou for your reply too

Sertraline is an SSRI medication and any medicine in this class can cause problems with your sex drive or failure to climax. Ask your doctor to put you on another class of medicine that isn't an SSRI.

That was the one side-affect I had when I was on it. I was on it for a number of years and still had the issue, I was on 200mg of it.

Oh I feel for you I really do, if the Dr can’t help me then I guess it’s just a sacrifice I’ll have to make

I had delayed climaxing with lexapro but I could still get there. My issues now is having dizziness when I do climax😬. I have no real solid reason asnto why.. I almost have to avoid it 🙃!

Hmm that’s odd, when I do get there I get a horrible headache right after that lasts about 5mins... weird. I think in my case it’s possibly due to trying to hard? Maybe I hold my breath or something 🤷🏻‍♀️. My Dr. Just had me go from 150mg to 200mg 😬, I’m thinking I’ll never reach climaxing again 😞.
