I have been diagnosed both with Stage 4 COPD and with very severe osteoporosis. I know that exercise and eating right will help me to live longer and better, but I just don't seem to have the willpower to do so. My mind says get going, but my body says take a nap.
Does anyone here have trouble getting... - Anxiety and Depre...
Does anyone here have trouble getting out of their own way?
I totally hear you. Im 67 and have the same issue. When you find a good solution, let me know.
LOL! You just made me giggle. I'm just a couple of years older than you.
I know what I need to do but feel like I just dont care. I want to want to....
I know exactly what you mean. How does your hubby feel about the changes?
He is kind of a couch potatoe stay at home guy, so life not that different for him. Other than we arent having grandkids over, thats a big deal. Im getting groceries on line at walmart, which I like. I cant really blame my lack of motivation on the virus really. I think Im just not liking aging and Im self sabotaging myself. Not sure why.
Are you on any depression or anxiety meds?
Yes Ive been on sertraline( zoloft) for a couple years. I think it helps the anxiety but maybe dulls my zest for life.
Perhaps you should ask your doctor if you could try something else. I'm on ant-depressants and anti-anxiety meds and they just take the edge off. Another thing is that I sleep for at least twelve hours every day.
I have a 14 wk old puppy who has to go out usually 3 am ish so sleeping is a little disrupted. I see my doc this summer, if I dont get going, I think I will ask to try something else. Im hoping when the weather gets nicer, I will at least take pup for walks more consistently. It’s nice to know Im not the only one feeling this way.
Because of you, I had a telehealth visit sith my doc today and I am going to continue the zoloft for a month and today start wellbutrin 100 mg twice daily. He said in a month if Im feeling alot better I can start weaning down the zoloft over 8 weeks. Im feeling really hopeful. Thankyou for the encouragement💜 Gma1951
Zoloft dulled life for me too. I switched to Citalopram and Wellbutrin. Now just on Wellbutrin and I am doing better.
I have Fibromyalgia so motivation is an issue with me too. The pain I currently experience would get worse by exercising. I don't like more pain. Therefore, I do very little. Working at home is stopping the walking I used to do at work: Truck, office, truck (lunch), office, truck. Repeat.
The "body wanting a nap" is real with me too. Saturdays I have a nap fest.
I just sent my doc a note asking about wellbutrin, glad you shared this. Do you remember when you made the switch, fid you have to wean off zoloft?
I did wean off of Zoloft. Then I was on Cymbalta (made me feel weird) then Lamictal (same weird feeling, weaned off too_. Got on Citalopram about 6 years ago. Worked okay but started to feel like it was working as well 2 years ago. Then my doctor added the Wellbutrin about a year ago with weaning off Citalopram (one month at 1/2 tablets) and adjusting Wellbutrin in steps to 150mg per day.
I felt like Citalopram was making my hand shaking worse. Getting off of it helped but I have other meds that cause it too. I think I inherited it from my grandma.
Hi I know what you mean as I have copd too. Why not join the British Lung Foundation as well which is also on here? You haven't got to be British to be on it.
Also here I found and suggested to another on how we think about limiting beliefs about ourselves.. Ask yourself 3 questions (1) What do I need to do today? (2) What do I have to do today? (3) What should I do today? Erase all that and change it to ****I get to (______) today. Got that from a podcast...It changes our mindset and we get to choose what we want to do . Maybe it’ll help you motivate you. Food for thought
This is a great tip, I saw something recently on Instagram along the same lines that said not to think about things you have to do as chores. For example instead of saying “Crap, I gotta clean today!” think “I deserve to live in a clean, organized environment” which, as you said, helps train your brain from a place of pressure and obligation into a space of self-love and honor. This helps me a lot when I put pressure on myself to get things done and I lack motivation to reframe the thoughts to a more comfortable place, like I’m doing myself a service. I especially apply this for working out when I don’t feel like it
Sometimes we just have to force ourselves to do it..I had to change my eating habits. Because of heart issues. I am on a low sodium diet also.1500 mil a day only. No alcohol..No caffeine. And very very little sugar. YOU CAN DO IT......
You are so right. I have done it in the past, I know I can again... I just need to do it. Thanks for your post, very helpful.
