I am 47. Thank you for all who responded. Didn’t know how to respond to everyone without starting a new post. I have no recollection of a conversation between myself and a friend, which scares me to death. My therapist tells me this is common with anxiety. I’ve forgotten it completely. Please tell me others of you have had similar experiences. It kept me up all night crying.
Be gentle in responses please. This is a major trigger. I have not had a substance abuse history, but I do take klonopin for anxiety.

Hi Hoole74, I’m 47 too😄. Absolutely I’ve had this happen to me. Quite a lot actually, I think it’s when I’m so anxious or perhaps stressed when this happens and so my mind is elsewhere, and therefore not really concentrating on the conversation...... . I’m really really uncomfortable with my own opinions.... and was under an extreme amount of stress due to major family problems and had a couple of confrontations with people and it stressed me sooo much I can’t remember it all. I know it happened, I know things were said but cannot remember how the arguments actually played out ....had to go back through my phone msgs and the argument was NEARLY as bad as I thought. Don’t be too hard on yourself, don’t be scared, it dosnt mean it will happen often or even again. You are aware of it which is really good and you can make steps to try to relax and enjoy your time with people for YOU . 🤗
So you think it is completely normal to have this happen. I have no recollection of the conversation, or the recollection of telling someone. I know I was anxious at the time because I’ve been anxious for some time now. I have health anxiety, so of course, this is very scary for me.
Let me explain it better. Someone told me something, that I then repeated to someone else. When that someone else brought it up to me, I didn’t remember it at all. If that makes sense.
Yes I used to have that when anxiety bad but also asked pharmacist if any of my meds affected short term memory. Xanax which I was having to take quite often then, can affect memory. So it could be just your anxiety or a combo with meds.
I am a lot younger than you and can relate, going through it now. I started a new job in August and I don’t remember much of anything that I’ve been taught, my boss said something to me about it today…she didn’t seem happy and now I’m super upset
