Body shakes

What do you do when your body shakes? It’s so uncomfortable. I am learning to sit with it until it passes but I used to just push it down and keep busy instead. Any suggestions?

You have the right idea. Don’t run from it. Don’t give in to it. Do sit with it. It’s great you can do that. Sounds so simple but it takes practice. Doesn’t mean you can’t be busy at the same time.....

That’s true. I used to run away from it but I’m practicing sitting with it for longer periods of time. It does sound simple - sit with your shakes. We sit all of the time!! In actuality it’s not the easiest Of practices and it feels much better to avoid it but avoiding it for too long will result in who knows what

Im not in this situation but fear melters might help. You basically moving your body to break your mind set at the time. It is silly so if all it does is make you laugh it’s okay thrive-wise.com/wp-content/...

I either sit with it like you've been doing or, if I'm able to, I go for a walk. Whenever I'm shaking from anxiety I feel like my body has too much energy building up so walking is a great release for that energy. If I can't go outside to walk, I just walk throughout the rooms in my condo. Another thing I do is this exercise that is often used in theater and acting, I don't know the name exactly, but basically you shake your right arm in the air 8 times, then your left arm 8 times, right leg 8 times, left leg 8 times, then you do it again but only 7 times each. You do it all the way down to only 1 time each, which means you get faster as you count down so you're basically just flailing your whole body at the end 😆 but it is a great release of energy and it's silly so it makes me feel better.

It is pretty fun! It is typically used in theater to warm-up and get the energy flowing, but it is also a great way to release anxious energy. I looked up what it's actually called, it is the 8 Count Shake, Youtube has a bunch of videos and variations.
