They usually go hand in hand.

I use a combination of music, exercise and writing to help. But therapy can help identify the root of the depression and anxiety which is extremely helpful.

There are many ways to treat anxiety and depression. And often you will need to do many things at once like certain dietary changes, exercise, proper sleep, and relaxation methods. Of course medication is one way but know that it only treats symptoms and does not get to the root cause and can often cause further issues down the road. Therapy is good to work through deep issues and can be a tremendous benefit. Learning what sets you off an why is helpful. Breath work is a wonderful tool as well because it helps calm your sympathetic nervous system (the fight or flight response). So are regular Acupuncture treatments. Believe it or not, Acupuncture is very effective in treating mental/emotional health issues. What is happening to you emotionally is affecting you physically and vice versa. It’s all connected. Acupuncture treatments help the body relax as it gets to the root causes or underlying conditions. Acupuncture helps support the body physically and mentally as it heals. Depending on how long you have been suffering, it may take many treatments, however you should feel a difference after a few treatments if not after the first one. My advice is to try natural methods like Acupuncture before taking long term drugs like SSRI’s. Benzodiazepines are an option for immediate relief but can be addictive if taken regularly. But if you are interested in Acupuncture know that it will not interfere with any other forms of treatment. It may even enhance their effects.

I've not tried acupuncture. Mainly I guess because it wasn't covered by insurance. After reading your comments now I want to try it.

There are Acupuncturists that accept health insurance, however your plan may not cover acupuncture for mental health. If you have any physical pain, insurance may cover that. And an Acupuncturist is treating you as a whole based on a traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis and not “anxiety or depression” but you end up getting everything that is going on with your body worked on at once especially the anxiety and/or depression. So there may be something going on with you that insurance may cover. If you have a Health Savings Account as part of your insurance, you most likely can use that to pay for Acupuncture treatments too. Also, there are Community Acupuncture clinics that charge less for treatments because you are treated in a community setting instead of one on one.

Thank you I haven't checked in a while to see if they take insurance. I do have arthritis. I'll see what I can find out.

There are many natural coping methods for depression as well as natural antidepressants and anti-anxiety supplements you could look up and try before medication. They work really well.Exercise, no alcohol, limit screen time and news watching.Try affirmations, journaling especially gratitude journals, meditation, CBT.

CBT Made Simple is the book I'm reading now. Lots of YouTube videos that are good. I recommend how to recover from depression by Dr Yapko.

I listen to music too cope in a way. But for other things I dont have any motivation and it's awful. As each day passes Its almost unbearable. I dont want to live anymore. My parents, my brother and my close people that love me are the only thing that makes me want to stay alive cuz I don't want to hurt them.
