Thanks ,I have explained as there is a difference between Traditional-and Modern-pop versions of Christmas Carols----and I wouldnt dream of changing them----everyone to their own taste musically------and we both love music, carols are wonderful, for cheering people up not for making a big song and dance over a wrong interpretation----however small,;nevermind we will carry on our carol singing regardless ,signed an older but more professioal singer/person lol

Thats a lovely one ,makes me sad---lots of tunes do that to me,as well as the opposite.

I'm going to focus on the positives of that post & say "SIlver Bells" always puts me in the Chrissie mood. And to show my age, I want to add "Merry Christmas Everyone" by Shakin' Stevens. It's a little boppy number. I highly recommend dancing around at inopportune times & at inappropriate places whenever you can. If you have a mental disorder, you might as well have fun & look crazy lol.

My favorite is “ Mary did you know” I got to sing that in the daycare church I was working for. None of the other teachers wanted to sing so I did. I was never so happy in my life. Too bad my parents didn’t come it was a huge deal to me. They said I was to grown up for them to come. But on there behalf I was near 25 or “carol of the bells!” I was a soprano in high school and if you ever been a soparano in a choir doing “carol of the bells”. You barely have a moment to breath if done right. Hardest song to ever sing.

in reply to mcginnmx

My mum adores that one. I also love Amazing Grace but don't know how Christmasy that one is. I always get teary with the "once was lost but now I'm found" bit...guess because I felt lost my all whole life lol.

goldieoldie profile image
goldieoldie in reply to

I get teary with those words too,it takes a lot for me to cry ,maybe a death...but music does it for me --I used to cry at when a child was born Johnny mathis ,But,we are supposed to be cheery ,so lets get some happy tunes on....what type of music,do you like.

in reply to goldieoldie

So envious goldieoldie, I like cry at a drop of a hat. Went exercising, cried 3 times during my hour walk, proceeded with another cry in the shower lol. Wish I was joking. In a bout of depression atm. Bright & cheery...dang, that's a hard one. Want to highlight the fact I used "dang" in a sentence....how often do you hear that nowadays. I digress...

Um musically all over the place, like Howard Keel's deep baritone, like Johnny Cash, the lovely deep voice of George Ezra, Rob Thomas. My favourite band atm is Imagine Dragon's, their best song for me is "bleeding out".

I am soooo not doing a good job of being cheery lol. Will pass the mic over to someone else.

THats a pity your parents not turning up-soprano,I should have carried on getting my voice trained but opted out to sing in my brothers pop group---I was 17years and then agorophobia took over--I would very much like to hear you sing---I am going on 75 yrs missed my vocation;its nice to know you still sing in the church choir!
