I'm on my last semester of high school and I have no idea what to do. I can't keep a job because I get too overwhelmed and end up quitting and in less than a year I turn 18 and have to start paying rent. Everyone is rushing me to either go to college or get a job but both seem impossible and I'm ready to give up. I'm so lost in all of this I feel like I'm living for everyone around me and not for myself so why should I even try. I'm almost an adult and need to get my life figured out but everytime I think about life after high school I get anxious. I hate high school yet I'm contemplating failing so I have more time to decide what to do with my life. I need help. What should I do?

Have you considered online jobs? With covid, so many businesses created online positions and in my opinion, they’re a lot less anxiety-inducing because you’re in the comfort of your home

Also, if you have a therapist they might have resources or know people who can help you find what you want and what will work for you

And tbh screw everyone pressuring you. They do that to everyone and you just have to ignore them and do what makes you happy. I’m sure you’ll find something that doesn’t include dealing with the hell of high school for another year 💙

I never heard of online jobs! How does that work?

It’s honestly so nice lol.

I’m a teacher so those are what I know most about. There are a lottttt of jobs where you teach online (if you’re credentialed ofc), substitute teach (super easy online lol and a lot of schools take anyone without a criminal background right now), and even jobs where you create your own classes about anything you’re passionate about (like literally anything, it could be a video game or a single book or anything) on something called Outschool. You pick your days and times and frequency.

Then there are a lot of random ones (marketing, web design, customer service, etc). I just googled “remote jobs” and there were a lot of websites with lists

That’s awesome!

It really is! Covid sucks but I genuinely believe that businesses moving more towards remote learning is going to be a long lasting benefit of it

And you just work from home. Some you pick your schedule (as long as you’re getting all of your work done) and some you have set hours but usually they aren’t bad (esp bc you can do it from your couch and snack lol)

Thank you so much that really does help. I'm going to look into it. Do you have to be 18?

It just depends on the job but it doesn’t hurt to check and try
