I recently broke up with my boyfriend back in June of this year and I have found it impossible to get over him and our relationship. I am having reoccurring dreams & nightmares about him and I’ve tried to seek out help from my family and friends, they all tell me to get over him and move on. I’ve fallen into a deep depression and anxious state of mind and I feel trapped in my own head. I don’t know what else to do. I can’t afford therapy, I can’t seek out help from anyone in my life. It’s getting more and more difficult by the day.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I don't mean to pry, but it might help if we know the circumstances of the breakup, if that feels comfortable. I mention that because sometimes being stuck in these cycles can be more about the breakup itself than about not being together any more (ex: "we were both so angry at each other, and I wish I could've made amends," "I can't get over the feeling that I did something to hurt my ex," etc.). I also wonder about the nightmares. What are these about? If these keep happening, believe it or not, that could mean you might actually be suffering from some post-traumatic stress from this.

There are some local churches who do counseling, you might want to check there first, they may have some suggestions. What will help is ask yourself why you are having a hard time letting go and what can you do to move forward? Know things will get better with time, and having hope is how things start to improve.
