I don't know why I feel like this. One minute I am okay and the next minute I feel so empty, lonely, joyless. People often tell me that I need to go out more, but guess what, I don't have lots of friends here and the ones that I have when I spend time with them I feel like I am pretending.

I am going through something that I do not even comprehend and that makes me think that I need some sort of therapy.. is that true? How do i get better when I don't even know whats wrong?

Hello. Therapists are very good at helping you figure out what's wrong (well, at least mine have been). They seem to know the right questions to ask. Whether you go into therapy is up to you.

Hi

I can relate to your situation pretty well. I used to have such thoughts when I was at my workplace. At one moment I was content, and in the very next moment I used to feel alone and empty.

Soon, these thoughts started creeping into my daily life and routine. That's when it became worse. What started off as a career-related doubt, turned into a full-blown anxiety.

At that time, there was no one whom I could talk to. However, I am pretty sure a healthy conversation would have healed me.

That day, I made a resolution to help all those people who need someone to talk to and listen to them. That's the only therapy! You talk and talk and talk...

Once you open up, you won't need friends just for the namesake. A supporting companionship will suffice and it will do wonders for you.

Take care...

Lonely, empty, joyless - think most of us on this forum go through those emotions once or like me, cyclically. Think cognitive therapy is good if you can do it. Always trying to retrain my thought patterns. I read we actually make pathways in our brain with negative thinking. Abilfy was the best medicine I’ve tried but gave me uncontrollable jaw movements so I had to stop. Keep searching. spiritual reading, Father Rohr, was helpful. Prayers for you.

Hello there. What are some of your favorite things to do to keep your mind occupied?

I am glad you reached out here. Therapy is a good solution to figuring out why you are struggling. One thing I have learned is, it is important to not go through struggles and problems on your own. We get lost in our thoughts and feelings and that brings no solutions or resolutions. The biggest thing I have learned through working with counselors and becoming a life coach is not to be hard on myself, to change my thoughts and focus to things that are uplifting or encouraging. You learn tools to help you do that. I will be praying for you. Know you are not alone. We are here for you and understand. Reach out anytime. Hugs and God Bless

I strongly suggest you discuss this with your doctor, who can provide assistance and direct you accordingly...
