Who knows why this is happening ?

Almost 4 months ago, I started having these excruciatingly painful headaches whenever I'm studying or working on a project. the longer I keep working, the more painful they get. I feel like my brain is boiling. I cannot even open my eyes, and I have no fever. Once I get them and they become unbearable, I let go of everything and just lay down, the pain takes too long to go, only the next day I'd be okay-ish. But once I get back to work, they come back.

The first time this happened was 5 years ago, after what the psychiatrist described as a nervous breakdown. I had these terrible headaches. But then they disappeared and only came back 4 months ago, and they are persistent this time.

I assume you have been to the opticians and had your eyes checked? If they are fine you need to see a doctor and get some professional advice.

Yes, I went to the optician 2 weeks ago. Everything is fine with my eyes.

Thank you for your response.

You are welcome. There are no medical experts on here and there could be a myriad of reasons for your headaches. You are not necessarily having another breakdown, so have hope.

To be honest, my parents know about this and they are not concerned at all. I am not financially independent so I cannot go to the doctor without their approval.

I actually had an infection in my armpit, the skin was so dark almost black. I had to try to convince them that I needed a doctor every day for a week, after my sister who is studying medicine told me it's an infection and needs antibiotics else it won't heal.

She told my mother but mother was still adamant on just using olive oil and it would get away.

I've been using the medicine for 2 months now, and it's still not healed.

My mother is narcissistic btw. So yeah, no hopes of going to the doctor, I'm not even going to try.

I presume you are at college? Isn't there a nurse or a counsellor there you can talk to? Are you a minor?

MaryRupi profile image
MaryRupi in reply tohypercat54

College is closed now, and I live too far away from college anyway, so I wouldn't be able to travel with COVID having a second wave where I live.

Oh and no I'm not a minor.

What medicine ?

Have you heard of Medicaid & CHIP? ( I hadn't, just googled and they came up).

Surely there must be some organisation that can help you ?

I think you know that you need URGENT medical care for the armpit.

Please read through this post, ask yourself how you would advise the poster if she was someone else.

Don't your parents have Medical Insurance for the whole family?

Help might be sought via a Domestic Abuse helpline in confidence ?

Sorry I guess I used the wrong word, it's a cream with antibiotics to treat the infection of my armpit, totally off topic. My apologies.

Mary-intussuception in reply toMaryRupi

Not off topic at all.

I edited my last reply.

Thank you, you're so kind.

No my family doesn't have medical insurance for the whole family. I don't have medical insurance.

I'll see what I can do about the helpline.

I cannot thank you enough for your kindness <3

I would see your doctor asap and get checked out.

Could you have been studying and working on a project for excessively lengthy periods?

Are you eating and sleeping well ? Do you drink plenty of water? Could you be dehydrated or overtired?

Thank you for your reply.

Today I started working on a report. After just an hour, the headaches started. I stopped immediately, but I still have them.

I sleep 8 hours a day. I drink plenty of water. I'm actually famous for drinking plenty of water, and I eat healthy food with vegetables, fruit, eggs etc.

I don't think I'm over-tired now cause I haven't been working for two weeks or more.

I would definitely see your doctor and ask for investigations.

Bowel movements ok?

MaryRupi profile image

I believe so yes. Nothing out of the ordinary.

The problem is, I can't see the doctor. My parents wouldn't let me and I'm not financially independent.

It could be migraines. I still have it too. It was worse during my school days. It started again and stopped two weeks ago.

You can't be treated with 'old wives' treatments if you have certain health conditions, and if your health conditions are causing you long term problems and your mother is not helping you in seeking help, you need to seek help from social services or another agency,we are in the year 2020,and times have changed, headaches may need further investigations,I just feel that there are bits of information missing here, there are many types of medications available for headaches, but without seeing a doctor, or without the permission of your parents it seems you are struggling to get the required help,NO parent behaves in a irresponsible way to deny you from seeking help from a doctor, you can type as many Google searches as you want, but its not going to give you the answers, and also it can give you unnecessary stress because you'll be getting all sorts of different signs and symptoms given from various medical pages, so I think you need to get an appointment ,and this will then start the process of finding out why you may have these headaches, its your health, and your parents have a responsibility to you,I wish you luck.

Headaches can be very draining mentally, and this is why you need to see a doctor, because they are the ones who can prescribe specific medications, I know, I ended up with severe headaches, and it was the most intense pain I have ever encountered, and the doctors need to know why and what is causing you the headache, or migraines and this is when the medication can be administered, its not just the one visit unfortunately, and sometimes the doctor uses a preventative type treatment so you don't start having headaches in the first place, its not just going to the doctors and saying this and that, its explaining your history, so its really getting on top on them will help you and hopefully this will make you feel so much better, take care.

Is it possible to ask a pharmacist for something over the counter that might help?

MaryRupi profile image
MaryRupi in reply tohypercat54

Yes, I haven't thought of that. Thank you :)

Mary-intussuception profile image
Mary-intussuception in reply toMaryRupi

You would need to be completely honest & show the pharmacist your armpit (so would need to be seen in the private consulting room).

However, it seems to me you need medical investigation by medics. Perhaps a Pharmacist could direct you to a charitable organization that could help?

Do you have any other symptoms? Such as neck pain? Jaw stiffness? Occasional vision problems?

When did you last have any blood tests?

Do you take any supplements or medications?

My apologies for causing you to worry, I guess my poor writing didn't get the whole story across. I said I tried to convince them every day for a week, after which they agreed to take me to the doctor who prescribed the treatment that I've been using for 2 months.

It's always like that. My glasses were broken for a year, it was stitched up together with glue and the glass was of a very poor quality that it scratched easily so it was all scratches and spots I could barely see. I had them for 5 years, for more than a year I've tried to get them to buy me other glasses cause I can barely see and it hinders my studies. They agreed after a loooooot of fights.

I suspected I had tooth decay, my mom, upon telling her, got angry and gave this look of disgust like she was fed up with me etc.
