Today I became bothered after reading an article that I came across regarding abuse allegations against the actor mentioned above. In short, it read that his past girlfriends were speaking out in support of “the man they know” and many of the comments supported that.
This is the comment I replied with after reading countless comments of people writing about how great this man is and how the alleged victim is a liar and money/fame hungry.
“Unaddressed trauma and substance abuse can extremely alter a person’s behavior at a particular time in their life.
This is true for my ex-husband.
And if you asked other ex’s or his new wife about their experience with him, it may be completely different from my experience with him.
For someone to doubt another’s trauma and for their reasoning to be, “well his other past girlfriends never experienced something like that” is naive and potentially hurtful/harmful.
I speak as a survivor of domestic violence and the PTSD nightmare that followed.
I also speak as someone whose trauma was often met with skepticism and doubt.
I’m not saying that these claims are true, but you can never truly know all the details of what someone else is experiencing or has experienced.”
