Does anyone have good advice for handling regret. I feel I made a huge mistake of living in California for so long.It was suggested for me to move back to my hometown in 2010. To me it's a beautiful state. But I have met some of the most terrible people where I feel one person caused me to have depression. And recently due to a bad relationship, I have developed General Anxiety Disorder and Schizotypal. Plus my career endeavours did not come about. So I feel like I made a huge life mistake which has ruined me.

Handling Regret
You can always start your life over, Don't think about the regrets you have made. Just think of it as you wanted something new and it didn't work out so now its time to move on or find a better place for you and better people. People will make mistakes and will have regrets in there life but without mistakes or regrets we wouldn't know what is right and what is wrong. All you can do right now is move on and meet better people and move somewhere you think would make you feel good. I'm sorry to hear about your Anxiety, I have anxiety too and its hard to do anything but if you learn how to cope with your anxiety and try your best to not always have anxiety life will get better. If you are really struggling Highly recommend a Therapist to talk to, they can help with your anxiety and much more they can give you good tips on what you can do and how you can control your anxiety and help you change your mindset into something positive, they can even help you with your regrets that you are feeling and everything.
Thanks you so much for yours words I need to understand that. I am just a perfectionist every challenge I take on I want to succeed at it. As for my anxiety I just hate the dizziness that is what makes things hard and my vivid imagination over thinking . But that you llovepugs123. I will try to see this California experience as that. A life experience.
Everybody in life wants to succeed and that is okay. Try your best to not always overthink, and I always overthink too and that is why I try my best to stay busy and you should try your best to stay busy too. If you have goals in life, go with the goals you have.
Hi
You can indeed handle this regret, but first we must understand that there are a couple of factors which might not help you get away with this regret.
The very basis of your regret has been attributed to a place, i.e., California. Believe me, we all do that. We attribute our fallacies to something else. We never want to take responsibility for our own action. However please understand, you may not be looking at your problems with a right mindset.
Yes, I agree that you have faced health, career and other problems. But who's to say that you wouldn't have faced it somewhere else. Fact of the matter is, I have seen people who leave their company and face the same set of problems in their next workplace, too!
There are some inherent problems which lies within us, and we have not been very open to accept our own flaws. That's the reason we trip ourselves with such thoughts and attribute it to something else.
Life takes unexpected turns, what seems good to you may actually be bad for you. What seems worst to you may turn out to be a life-changing experience for you. You never know!
Wow that was eye opening. I do need to take responsibility for my own actions. But I can say this. I hope God can give me the intelligence to stop creating my own hell with my vivid imagination and over thinking. I just want to be strong and smart. I just turn 43 and I just don't know if I will make it in life.
You WILL make it in life.
You have a willingness to learn and grow.
Can you work with a Therapist about the “vivid imagination?”
Take life one day at a time. ❤️
Yes I can work with a therapist. Thank you.
I recommend talking to a therapist too. It can be helpful. I hope that you feel better from the anxiety soon.
Thank same here. I am just concerned about losing my job due to anxiety.
Maybe with the help of the right medications and therapy you will be able to feel better soon. It's important to get help.
