Is it possible to like being quarantined?

Hi, I see posts about the quarantine effecting people negatively because they want to get out of their house and go places/ do things.... well, I’m the opposite, I actually like having to work from home and not go anywhere or see anyone. I even think my depression has improved ‘slightly’ by having to work from home and be isolated. I’m still depressed and anxious but this quarantine has given me a break and a time to “catch my breath” in a way that I think I really needed. I’m still very depressed and I’m nervous about going back to normal since I wasn’t able to keep up with “normal life”... like showering everyday, doing my hair and makeup daily, laundry, etc... being away from home for 10 hours a day working wiped me out.

If your work has improved maybe you can discuss with your employer the possibity of working from home on a regular basis.

Hi there.

I think people have been cautious about talking about the positives of quarantine because they don’t want to appear insensitive to the damage caused and the loss of life.

But you’re not alone. I am more than happy staying home - I went out with my kid for the first couple of weeks after quarantine started but I found it so stressful (avoiding people, crossing roads, keeping my kid near me) I stopped doing it and asked his dad to go for walks with him instead. I haven’t been out for 8 weeks.

As well as mental health problems, I’m also a big ole’ introvert. If I were an animal, I’d be a house cat! I think it’s perfectly ok that you enjoy your time at home. I hope returning to “normal” isn’t too stressful for you. Maybe the new normal will be different to the old way, and you could continue to work from home?

Take care xx

RecreateMyself, it is very possible to like being quarantined especially for the

Agoraphobic person. It finally gives us a reason in why we stay home. (Because

of the Corona Virus) When we would tell people we stay in because of our

anxiety and fears, no one understood. This has been something for many to hide

behind.

My fear is that it may produce more people to become agoraphobic when it's time

to go back to work. (for both the average person as well as the agoraphobic)

We shall see. :) xx

I am also finding the opportunity for isolation to be somewhat comforting. I prefer private space as I am not very good with people or with things changing too much outside what I am comfortable with. I only tend to go out once, maybe twice a week, but try to make the most of the time out.

Human company is meant to be good for us (depending on the company, I guess), so hopefully those of us more comfortable with isolation are not getting too used to it to the detriment of still benefiting from the company of others.

Hopefully, like

Chancalot suggested; you might be able to use this change as an opportunity to ask to continue remote working for some or all of your week.

Good luck on that front and stay safe.

Me too. I like not running around here and there. I feel a certain peacefulness staying home.
