No medication

Anyone on this site addressing their depression & anxiety without medication

I'm unwilling to deal with the side affects of pharmaceuticals as I have five other medical conditions. I believe it's possible for my body to heal itself with prayer, faith, food, exercise, mindfulness

meditation, energy, healthy relationships

I refuse to give up but am not there yet. Feel like a cloud is following me wherever I go

Yes. I have GAD, been off medication for 12 years and am fully functional. The only time it gets very challenging to deal with is after a stressful or traumatic event; but even then it is possible to use coping tools and self talk and help to get through it. I’m in this stage right now.

Yes, though I do take sam-e and l-tyrosine supplements.

I also have gotten relief from depression through online support groups (via zoom), music therapy and writing.

Also restorative to me, has been having someone to love and care for.

It is actually many things in my mental health "tool kit"

Good luck!

I think you made a right choice. My experience with medication was terrible. I took ativan for 6 months and it made me feel and behave like a zombie . Then I decided to stop using it. Withdrawal was an absolute nightmare but I persisted. That is when anxiety developed. That was 2 years ago. I still have it, not all the time, but it depends how stressful is the period of time. Do not take the shit , at all costs .

I had a nightmare experience withdrawing from benzos as well. Far worse than any anxiety I ever had, and I became severely depressed and psychotic. That was years ago, much much better now.

Some people have little issues coming off, for others it is horrible and can last a long time.

I hope you start feeling better soon! I am very sensitive to any tiny dose of medication so have had my fair share of mineral side effects.

I found that yoga has really helped me to ground and relax a little.

There is a book called ‘You Are the Placebo’ by Dr. Joe Dispenza.

I haven’t read the whole thing yet, but the work that he’s done through meditation and thought reframing seems incredible.

My mom is a physician and believes very strongly in this. Also Dr. Sarno’s books.

Good luck! And feel good.

Thanks so much for your message, I will look for this book, as I also live with chronic pain, and need an outlet🌸

I think it is worth going for until proven differently. Especially if you are physically able to get outside for sunshine and work up a sweat exercising kind of therapy.

Trying to deal with anxiety and depression without meds will make you wish you were dead! Antidepressants gave me my life back!

I can relate to what you shared, I have generic Prozac now but afraid to take after reading the side affects

All antidepressants has side effects. If the side effects are unbearable, your doctor will switch your meds.

Good luck on trying to do it natural!

Not going to happen! If you want to live a happy and normal life, you need meds!

Dealing with things naturally is ideal, but if the meds work theres no reason not to take them. Ive tried many. Had to get off most for unwanted side effects. You can be dependant on anything that works. Listen to your doctors. I meditate and take benzos sometimes if i need. Thats worked for me the most.
