How to let things go quicker

I just did something for my mother for her to turn around and get angry at me for getting her something. It just ruined my mood is there an easy way to get over things. Sometimes I allow little things to ruin my mood for a lot of the day. Is there an easier way to deal with my emotions?

I wish I knew too... Have you tried mindfulness?

I can definitely relate! I'm an "overthinker" extraordinaire! ;) There's a really cool therapist I follow on Instagram who texts mantras and words of encouragement. Her Instagram handle is: the.holistic.psychologist.

One that comes to mind is: "when you do without expectation, you get free," which is definitely more difficult than it sounds... but it's spot on. We can't change how people are, but we find ways to accept it.

She goes on to say, "when you share without wanting validation, you get free. when you choose yourself even if this triggers others, you get free."

Hang in there. You're not alone.

I have the same issue. Often I will type everything into a text file and save it on an external hard drive. Literally putting it in a black box. Sometimes it helps. And later, I can re-read what I wrote and I gain perspective from it.

I do this too! I have a journal and it’s like a black hole 😂 everything I feel goes into it.

I think when you respond to something in a certain way over and over so that it has become a pattern, there is not an "easy way" or at least not initially.

Personally, I have felt highly charged (maybe adrenaline? ) after a heated exchange and exercising has helped bring me down fairly quickly. I also benefit from listening to podcasts (any subject as long as its engrossing) I also like to gentle knead my temples, head and shoulders (or wherever else tension builds up) this usually makes me feel better.

“Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”

I have a mom who made Me miserable. I could Never do anything Right in her eyes. What I’ve learned to do is have a Patience mindset when I know I’m going to see her. If you know her favorite store, just get her a gift card so she can get what she wants? Sometimes I would get Drunk 🥴 lol
