Anxiety and depression-help needed..

71 years old and fighting anxiety and depression for 30 years. Did well until about 2 years ago-feeling worse. Have had countless therapists and meds...Anyone have success with exercise? Rexulti? TMS therapy? Thank you.

Sorry you haven't been feeling well.I myself have been fighting anxiety& depression for about 30 yrs.Rexulti didnt work for me.I am now on Seroquel which has been helpful.Exercise also helps.Not sure what TMS therapy is although....I have a therapist & it has been a release.

Hi, sebastians -

I'm so sorry for what you've been going through all these years. I take Paroxetine. It's an SSRI and works quickly. As you know, what works varies from person to person, depending on brain chemistry and other variables, so I can only give feedback based on my experience. I've not tried what you mentioned. I hope you get some replies from people who've tried what you mentioned. Do you see a therapist? A good therapist, along with medication, if needed, is worth more than gold.

I am 70 yrs, so I have something in common with you. I've had problrms all my life. I have been struggling to get better for about 7 years now. I've seen a couple of therapists, but had no helpful results. Also see a psychiatrist, and we have tried many medications but have not found the right one yet. I did find a new counselor--she's online--and she has helped me so much in the last couple of months. We are working on this. I'm not giving up, and don't you either. Exercise does help. Also, it was suggested today during my session that I have 15 minutes to have negative thoughts and the rest of the day positive. If I do have a negative thought, to put it in a box and start positive thoughts again. I am going to try that. It's a hard battle, but I am seeing hope. I am scared of TMS. I hope that it's never suggested for me. I wish you the best, and please let us know how you are doing.
