Catch 22

bonkers65

I live alone and don't have any family or friends. Sometimes I feel like I would like to make some new friends, but then I think no, I don't want them to see me like this. Don't know what to do.

I hope you are well

I seem to suffer from depression l, anxiety and loneliness

I only have an elderly and demanding Mother who puts all her worries on me

I am a religious person and still I am sad

It depends on the people you meet

Some are kind some not kind

I am sorry for you Roukaya and bonkers65 as well and I myself have depression and anxiety. Bonkers65, friends are suppose to be there for you when you are at your lowest so if you meet someone good who helps you now, thats a true friends so look for people who are kind and will help you cause those are the people you want in your life. Roukaya, I agree with you 100% some people are good some are not, its up to to look and find the good ones. P.S. if you find yourselve in need of a friend chat me individually and we can talk anytime.

Thanks Jason. Yes I need to find some people who will like me unconditionally. I know they are out there, they're just hard to find. Especially when you have social anxiety. But I hope I do.

Good morning

I hope you are well

I get up early for prayers but I can relate to your post

I have suffered from anxiety most of my life and I have learnt there are all kinds of people in this world as there are jobs

I have been rejected by so many but I have also met some very kind and understanding people on Health Unblocked.

I think in my view to keep trying snd see what kind of people there are out there

If someone is a genuine and sincere friend they will stay and understand you

It just came to me that I'm going Bonkers.

Why do you say that ?

Ugh. So relatable!

I think it all comes down to how accepting we are of ourselves, and self confidence. Maybe something happened in the past that resulted in someones judgement towards you due to your mental struggles? Or maybe it’s as simple as just not accepting yourself and/or self confidence.

For me, it’s all the above. And it sucks. But humans were wired for other human connection. So it’s like....?

I need one of those instruction books - “how to make friends while having multiple severe mental health issues and extreme social anxiety disorder for dummies”

Been like this all my life. No self confidence, low self esteem and social anxiety. Seeing a therapist who if nothing else may be able to help me accept myself. You're right it sucks.

I’m sorry. Me as well. I’ve been bullied everyday in my school days and have been rejected by parents at a very young age that resulted in me thinking that it was because of me. So I’ve never had a strong connection with my “identity”, if that’s what you want to call it, or my confidence.

All we can do now, is try our best to accept things happen, and work on it ourselves one step at a time.

“Life isn’t determined by the cards you were dealt but how you play your hand.”

Definitely, a therapist can help you come up with ways to start accepting yourself and coping skills for when you feel this way. It will help tremendously. Just keep pushing forward my friend. Soon enough, after working on these things, you will find relief and feel better.

Wish you the best 💕
