Dealing with Anxiety and depression

Hello all! As a person struggling with Anxiety and Depression, I find it difficult to simple stuff like taking a shower or even getting out of bed at times. This is a group for people like me so I might not be the only one who feels this way. Apart from talking to people and getting support, I'm finding turning to spirituality helpful. After every text I read or video, I watch I feel how I've been thinking about the same thoughts from such a long time and these thoughts are increasing my anxiety. It helps me to develop a newer perspective to look at life. I admit that there are days still when I feel utterly helpless and find it difficult to face my fears but I also feel that this is fleeting and I will get over it. This is one feeling that is quite new to me. I know we have atheists, agnostics and religious people in this group but no matter your faith or lack of faith I'd very much recommend what I personally have benefitted from. I listen to spiritual videos on Youtube (most of them are lessons from Vedas, Gita but I'm sure you can find others you might like). So I'd recommend you guys give spirituality a try if you haven't already. Peace!

Hello MJ

We are in this together. I have suffered from depression to the point I feel mentally paralyzed. Is this how you feel? I've tried different types of medications, but only made me gain weight which made me feel worse. I also have ADHD which seems to go hand in hand. What part of the world to you live? I've noticed people are from the UK. For example, where I live in Southern California, today the sun is shining. On the days I do not feel like getting out of bed, I will stand outside and feel the sun shine on face. Don't tackle too much, do one simple thing at a time. For example, if you have dishes piling up in the sink, tell yourself, today I will wash, one plate and one fork. Make a calendar of one simple task per day. I feel your pain and understand how you feel. I have also listened to Joel Osteen for some spiritual uplift. You don't even have to have the same beliefs, but he is so optimistic it is contagious.

This forum is helpful to vent, find support and people who care about you and your struggles. Together we can help others who are suffering in silence.

Right now I'm in DC, and thnk you for your suggestions. Getting out of bed is a struggle for me too but hopefulness keeps me going.
